Sample: Batch Analysis


Hydrology method: SCS TR-20 TOC method: SCS TR-55 Objective: This sample folder consists of three SSA models which illustrate the modeling of detention pond. These examples illustrate the capability of SSA to do batch analysis (multiple storm analysis). In these examples there are 6 different return period storms are analyzed simultaneously.

Sample: Climatology
Hydrology method: EPA SWMM Objective: The project files included in the folder illustrates different climate file format that EPA SWMM hydrology method could model in SSA. Respective folders also describe the supported file formats of Canadian, NCDC and User-Defined climate files. The climate files can be used only for EPA SWMM hydrology method and can be accessed from Input | Climatology menu option.

Sample: Continuous Simulation


Hydrology method: EPA SWMM Objective: This sample illustrates how to model a continuous rainfall series in SSA using EPA SWMM hydrology method. The external rainfall files are in *.DAT format and could be opened in ASCII text editor to understand the file format.

Sample: Culvert
Hydrology method: Modified Rational TOC method: User-defined Objective: This sample illustrates how to model a culvert in SSA. Under Conveyance Links user has the option to select a desired culvert from various available culvert shapes and types. All the culverts are modeled governed by FHWA equations. Also, to model overflowing culvert, a weir could be added in parallel.

Sample: Exfiltration
Hydrology method: EPA SWMM Objective: This sample folder consists of two SSA models which illustrate the modeling of exfiltration from storage nodes. SSA allows various options to model exfiltration from storage nodes defined in the network. Considering exfiltration from a storage node allows a user to model storage node as a retention pond.

Sample: External Rainfall


Hydrology method: EPA SWMM Objective: This sample illustrates how to use an external rainfall file for modeling in SSA and its file format.

Sample: Flow Diversion


Hydrology method: EPA SWMM Objective: This sample illustrates the modeling of flow diversion for a sanitary sewer network. SSA has the option to model flow diversion for four different types of diversion properties like cutoff, overflow, tabular and weir.

Sample: Force Mains


Hydrology method: EPA SWMM Objective: The examples included in this folder illustrate the way to model force mains in SSA. SSA has the capability to model force mains either using Hazen - Williams or Darcy Weisbach equation.

Sample: GIS 01
Objective: This folder contains point and line shapefiles in *.SHP format which could be imported into SSA using GIS import wizard. GIS import functionality can be accessed from File | Import | GIS Import.

Sample: GIS 02
Objective: This folder contains point, line and polygon shapefiles in *.SHP format which could be imported into SSA using GIS import wizard. GIS import functionality can be accessed from File | Import | GIS Import.

Sample: Groundwater
Hydrology method: EPA SWMM Objective: This sample folder consists of an example model which illustrates to model groundwater aquifer in SSA. Please note that groundwater modeling is only available with EPA SWMM hydrology method as an option.

Sample: HEC-1
Hydrology method: HEC-1 Objective: This sample folder contains different model setup with various options available in HEC-1 hydrology method. User can setup a model in SSA and also has the option to export the model as HEC-1 file format, which can be accessed from File | Export menu. After running successful analysis in SSA, user could also generate an industry acceptable HEC-1 output report from Output | HEC-1 Output Report.

Sample: HGL & EGL Profile Plots


Objective: The various SSA model included in this sample folder illustrates the very powerful HGL and EGL calculation and plotting options available in SSA. User could also animate the profile plot to view the behavior of WSEL over period of time. SSA also has the capability to record the animation of profile plot.

Sample: Hydraflow Storm Sewers


Objective: This sample folder consists of three STM (Hydraflow Storm Sewers) files which could be imported and exported using the import and export functionalities of SSA. User could roundtrip between STM files using SSA and Civil3D. Page 5 of 9

Sample: Hydrology Methods


Objective: This sample folder consists of various project files which illustrate the capability of SSA to model different hydrology methods. SSA has the capability to model hydrology methods like: EPA SWMM, Rational, Modified Rational, DeKalb Rational, Santa Barbara UH, SCS TR 20, SCS T 55, and HEC-1. Apart from different hydrology methods, SSA also has the capability to calculate TOC using Carter, Eagleson, FAA, Harris County, TX, Kirpich, Papadakis-Kazan (Maricopa County), SCS TR 55, and Userdefined.

Sample: Inlets
Hydrology method: EPA SWMM Objective: This folder contains a project file of SSA which illustrates the various types of inlets that can be modeled as part of storm water network. This model consists of various types of FHWA HEC-22 inlets both in grade and on sag conditions.

Sample: LandXML 01
Objective: This sample folder consists of a LandXML file for a pipe network exported from AutoCAD Civil 3D. SSA has the capability to import any LandXML file created from Civil 3D or any other sources and also has the capability to export the file in LandXML format to be imported in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Sample: LandXML 02
Objective: This sample folder consists of a LandXML file for a pipe network exported from AutoCAD Civil 3D. SSA has the capability to import any LandXML file created from Civil 3D or any other sources and also has the capability to export the file in LandXML format to be imported in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Sample: Merge
Objective: This sample folder contains two SSA project files which could be merged in SSA to get a complete model for a given project site. The merge functionality could be accessed from File | Merge menu.

Sample: Orifice Controls


Objective: This sample folder contains of four SSA project files which demonstrates various ways to control orifices in SSA with the help of Control Rules. To access control rules, user should go to Input | Control Rules from menu options. Page 6 of 9

Sample: Pre-Developed
Objective: This sample folder contains an example project file created in SSA which illustrates the modeling of a pre-developed site. This folder also contains a DWG and a real-world coordinate orthophoto which could be imported in SSA as a background image. SSA has the capability to read *.tfw and *.jpw files as a world coordinate files while importing orthophoto, to display the image properly.

Sample: Pre-Post Detention Pond Design


Objective: This folder contains three example files developed using SSA which illustrates the detention pond design functionality in SSA. The Existing Conditions.spf model is for pre-developed area and Proposed Conditions.spf model is for post-developed area. The Proposed Detention Pond.spf model illustrates the modeling of detention pond for 2-, 10- and 100-yr return period storms with the help of orifices and weir as the outlet structures.

Sample: Pre-Post Watersheds


Objective: This folder contains a SSA a project file which demonstrates the capability of SSA to model and compare pre- and post-developed conditions in a single SSA model.

Sample: Pumps
Objective: The model file exists in this sample folder illustrates the advanced modeling of pumps in SSA.

Sample: RDII
Objective: The project file in this sample folder illustrates the capability of SSA to model RDII (Rainfall Dependent Infiltrations/Inflows) from a project site. Modeling of RDII is very helpful while modeling sanitary sewers in SSA.

Sample: Residential Project


Objective: The examples included in this sample folder illustrate the modeling of a residential project site. The examples are developed for both pre- and post-developed conditions and then modeling of a detention pond to get the desired flow at the outfall. The flows from the detention pond are controlled using outlet structures like orifice, weir and inflatable weir.

Objective: This sample folder contains a project file which illustrates the modeling capabilities of sanitary network in SSA.

Sample: Siphon
Objective: This sample folder contains an example sanitary sewer model where it illustrates the way to model siphon in SSA.

Sample: Stormwater Improvement Plan


Objective: This sample folder consists of a project file for a very detailed study of stormwater improvement plan using SSA.

Sample: Subdivision
Objective: The example file in this sample folder shows the modeling of a subdivision project in SSA.

Sample: Tidal
Objective: This sample folder consists of a model file created in SSA which demonstrates the modeling capability of a tidal curve defined at the project site outfall. SSA has the capability to model outfall with various types of boundary conditions such as Fixed, Free, Normal, Tidal Curve, and Time Series.

Sample: Urban Watershed 01


Hydrology method: SCS TR-20 TOC method: User-defined Objective: The example file in this sample folder illustrates a very detailed study of an urban watershed. The project file consists of detention ponds/storage nodes with very complicated modeling of outlet structures.

Hydrology method: EPA SWMM Objective: The example file in this folder illustrates the modeling capability of SSA for water quality parameters. After modeling water quality parameters, user could also perform the treatment to control the concentration label of the constituents.

Sample: XPSWMM
Objective: This sample folder consists of few XPSWMM files (*.xp) which could be directly imported in SSA. Also, the imported XPSWMM file or files created in SSA could be exported to the XPSWMM file format. SSA supports roundtrip of XPSWMM file until XPSWMM v2009 file format. This folder also contains a PPT which demonstrates the XPSWMM import functionality in SSA.
