Activity 6.7A Soundness testing: hot- and cold-water systems

Answer the questions below.
1 What are the four main procedures for carrying out soundness testing?

The jumbled procedure below is for testing rigid pipes such as copper. Fill in the pressure and the length of time each test is carried out for. Then number each step in the correct order, from 1 to 6. i ii Leave to stand for hour.

The system should be pressurised using the hydraulic testing equipment to a pressure of times the system working pressure.

iii Check for visible leakage and for loss of pressure. If sound, the test has been satisfactory. iv If not sound, repeat the test after locating and repairing any leaks. v Once the system has been filled, it should be allowed to stand for minutes to allow the water temperature to stabilise.

vi Make sure any open-ended pipes are sealed, e.g. vent pipes. 3 Refer to Unit 6 of Plumbing NVQ and Technical Certificate Level 2. The test pressure , Test A. a What should the test pressure should be?
