COURSE CODE : FP204 LABORATORY No. : 6 TITLE : VIDEO LEARNING OUTCOMES: COURSE : DIGITAL MEDIA DATE :

By the end of this laboratory session, you should be able to: 1. Identify the video hardware and software. 2. List video file format. 3. Differentiate the basic shot types. 4. Explain the camera functions. 5. Define pre-post production.
Equipment: Computer, Video Camera and Adobe Premier Tips and Help: Using Tripod can help your recording more consistent and no shaking. Be careful with your video timing. You may overlap your recording.

Activity 6A: Video Project Development Procedure: 1. Click Start menu of Adobe Premiere 6.5 software/adobe Premiere CS4. Click File>New Project and Load Project Setting window will appear. Choose the best setting to start your project. For example, Multimedia Video For Windows, Then click OK. 2. Then, three main windows will be displayed which are Monitor, Project and Timeline. Next, click File>Import>File. Next, choose a video clip in the Sample Folder, for example, Boys.avi. The file chosen will be appeared in the Project window. 3. Drag the file to the Timeline and place it on either video track. Edit that video clip by right click on the mouse, the user change the Duration, Speed and Video Options>Motion. 4. Click play button on the monitor window to see the edition. 5. Repeat step (3) and (4) for another video clips. Then, insert some suitable still image in your video project. Save the file in .ppj format and give appropriate name.

Activity 6B: Audio Application Procedure: 1. Choose File>Import>File>Music.aif. Drag into Audio track on the Timeline window. Choose whether to play the audio along video clip or only part of it. 2. Separate between audio and video, then, right click on the mouse and choose unlink

audio and video. Then, press Enter to save the file. Activity 6C:Title and Universal Counting Leader Application Procedure: 1. Use the same file, click File>New>Title. Type any text which is suitable with the video project title. Then, save the file and import file into Project. Drag into timeline window. 2. Click File>New>Universal Counting Leader. Change the color in Video part, then, click Preview. And then click OK. Next, save the file then, import file into Project. Drag into Timeline window at the beginning of the video project. Activity 6D: Transition Application Procedure:

1. Expand track of Video 1 on the Timeline window, until the user can see trek Video1A,
Transition and Video1B. Choose Windows>Show Transitions If the Transition palette is not open

2. Transition is always place at the beginning and at the end of clip. Choose required Transition, for example Dissolve and drag into the Transition track on the Timeline window. Next, press Enter to save the changes.

Exercise 6A : Take shot, camera movement and angle Into a group, you will be given a set of digital video camera with tripod. a)Find your scene and take the shot according : i. Long shot

Exercise 6B: Recording Video

1. Each group must record one short video according to the situation below:i. A tree using Slow Zoom in/out method 1 minute

2. The angle of your shot may vary and all shot are depending on your group creativities. 3. Your group may need to go out of the lab to get better scenario and take good care all the equipment with you. 4. Remember to right down your entire step to produce above videos and DO NOT SHAKING!

Exercise 6C: Developing a movie From exercise 6A and 6B, create your own creativity to produce one shot movie. Insert suitable sound, transition and affect to your movie. Your movie must have the intro and ending presentation. The duration of presentation less than two minute. Submit your artwork on next meeting.
