- With the recent Hurricane and seeing its adverse effects throughout the East Coast, we are reminded

of the Power of AllahYou know, before the hurricane reached New York, they were saying severe wind warnings and power outages likely.The city of Schenctady had declared a state of emergency. 12,000 flights were delayed and/or canceled due to the weather.I was reminded of two nations that were destroyed by Allah SWT in the past

Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad

[With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,

The likes of whom had never been created in the land?

And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? - What was their crime? For what were they destroyed? The answer, we find in the Quran.

Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. - My brothers and sisters, do we not also deny the day of Qiyamah? I mean, by speech, by our tongues, we believebut our actions say otherwise. As the saying goes ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].
- The word Thagiyah is derived from tughyan which means 'to exceed the limit', signifying an extremely severe punishment, that is, 'it would be such high pitched sound which would exceed the limit of any of the sounds of the mortal world, and the human heart or brain would not be able to bear'. When Thamud exceeded the limit in denying the Day of Judgement, they were destroyed by that dreadful cry which exceeded all I limits. It was a combination of most high pitched sound of thunderbolt ' together with a flash of lightning that struck them which tore their hearts.

And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind


Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.
- According to some of the narratives, the punishment of windstorm started on Wednesday morning, and lasted till the following Wednesday evening.

[al Haqqah 69:5-8] - You know, the news kept saying Sandy did this and Sandy did thatTheyve failed to realize La Hawla Wa La Quwata- There is no Might and Power except with Allah - Lets go back to surah Fajr:

And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes?

[All of] whom oppressed within the lands

And increased therein the corruption. - Are not all the lands filled with corruption and tyrant rules and the people all over the world, regardless of their religion being oppressed?! Think about it.

And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority." They said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?"

So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment. [al Fajr 89:10-13]

- My brothers and sisters, Allah SWT asks us a serious question in al Haqqah:

Then do you see of them any remains?
