LAUNCH 36 BI-ANNUAL UPDATES ( FEBRUARY 2013)

Bi-annual update
Ash Maurya author of Running Lean at the Lean Startup workshop

The Propel ICT team has been very busy since our last Demo Day event. As a Propel ICT sponsor organization, allow us to take a few minutes and update you on what weve been working on and where your contribution is being invested.

Through our very popular and successful Launch36 Accelerator program, entrepreneurs from across the East Coast of Canada follow a rigorous 5 month program aimed to push them to their limits and be venture ready by Demo Day where they will be pitching in front of a room full of investors, venture capitalists, etc. To get them there, they participate in weekly Fireside chats, multiple workshops and investor pitch readiness activities every chance they get. Our Fireside Chat series of weekly 3 hour working sessions given by a subject matter expert (SME) to the cohort with participation from our mentor network and sponsors. This does not only give them information on the subjects but also an opportunity to create meaningful connections with the individuals and companies within the Launch36 network.

Some of our past SME include:

Dan Martell (Clarity.fm) Rob Cowan (McInnes Cooper) Scott Walton (Enovex) Michael Dunleavy & Colin Wrynn (Labarge Weinstein) Ian Cavanaugh (Ambir) Jeff Grammar (RHO Canada Ventures)

We kicked off the accelerator program with a Lean Startup workshop conducted by Ash Maurya, the author of Running Lean. This workshop was held in Halifax, NS and had over 100 entrepreneurs in attendance. This event gave the Launch36 teams a chance to learn our customer and market development methodology and to receive one-on-one mentorship with Ash after the public workshop. Recently, our cohort attended a 4-day Phasemap workshop (previously known as The Next Phase workshop). Each team spent 4 days focused on how to get investor ready and develop their execution strategy with the help of Toon Nagtegaal as well as David Crow from OMERS.Ventures.
