CEDAR SESSION NEWS - JANUARY The Cedar Session met Tuesday, January 8th at 7pm at the office of LOVE in the name of Christ. The meeting was opened with devotions and prayer. Time was spent reviewing information and organizing details for the upcoming congregational meeting. The 2012 year-end financial report indicates the congregation has invested over $20,000 through the year in non-budgeted giving and the year-end net balance is a positive cash flow of over $7,000! The Session is thankful for the congregations hearty financial support in the 2012 budget year that included a substantial budget change. Session has noted over the past year that at times worshipers can be distracted and not engaged until a while into the worship service. Session has approved playing pre-recorded worshipful music prior to the piano prelude to assist in creating a more worshipful atmosphere. Session was joined at 8pm by the Presbytery Church visitation committee. Session reviewed and discussed various aspects of the ministry at Cedar with the committee. After the visitation committee left at 9pm, Session resumed its business by looking at upcoming events. The winter Presbytery meeting will be held at Chain of Lakes OPC, Pastor Steve plans to attend this meeting. Session is looking forward to the January 20th commissioning service for deacon Duane Saxton for an international mission trip. Session briefly discussed the blessings that God has brought to the Cedar congregation through those who have been actively involved in missions work. The Session is planning a long range-vision planning retreat in February for Session members. Education schedule, classes, teachers and curriculum were reviewed. Shepherding matters were reviewed and discussed. The Session meeting was closed after a time of prayer, and then the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully Submitted, Craig Baker, clerk of session
