Festal Scripture References

Some time ago, someone explained to me that, if you want to know how Orthodox Tradition understands the Old Testament, the best place to start is the hymns of the Church. In particular, it seems that festal services oer a wealth of references and allusions to Old Testament passages. The only problem is that I havent come across a source where the references are laid out in contextual sequence. The English edition of the Festal Menaion produced by Met. Kallistos (Ware) does an admirable job citing the Old Testament sources. But for it to serve as a commentary, you need it arranged by the biblical books, not the Church services. This table is a very rough draft attempt at a scriptural index to the Festal Menaion. By design, it does not include every Old Testament referenceonly those where the Old Testament passage nds its fulllment in a New Testament event or a particular feast. It is intended merely as a basis for more extensive study.
