Laurens tasks on these titles ranged from proofreading an entire manuscript to preediting to checking multiple rounds of corrections to writing jacket copy for some titles. We often asked her to help with final prepress checks on manuscripts as well as final blueline approvals. Lauren also helped proofread material for the Wholesale department and the Marketing department. Her skills in InDesign were invaluable as well, and we often called upon her to help with typesetting tasks during some especially busy weeks. She worked tirelessly on several extremely complicated projects, including the following:

1. A Year of Powerful Prayer. This compilation was on a very tight deadline; we had roughly six weeks from concept to press date. Lauren was part of a team assigned the task of double-checking the excerpts for the book to make sure the text was quoted correctly and cited properly. With 365 excerpts, there was a lot of checking to do! I can honestly say that this book would not have happened on time without Laurens help. 2. Adventurers Wanted, book 4: Sands of Nezza. This novel was more than 117K words long and was in serious need of a thorough edit. Lauren jumped right in and worked on a pre-edit pass of the manuscript, identifying plot points that needed to be strengthened, asking important questions for the author to consider, and cleaning up errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. The book is definitely better for having been tended to by Laurens careful eye. 3. Six Sisters Stuff. Lauren was the perfect person to help with this project asI found outshe loves to cook. Cookbooks are complicated projects to begin with, and this one had additional layers of complexity with the addition of craft projects throughout the book. Lauren was my go-to person for this title, and she was always willing to check (yet another) round of corrections, write the jacket copy, follow up on an unanswered question, or ask an important, clarifying question. The finished project shines with the time and effort she poured into it. We here at Deseret Book loved Laurens cheerful attitude and willingness to work. She has a keen eye for detail and is never afraid to ask questions. She would be a valuable addition to any organization.
