Principles of curriculum development

During curriculum development following principles should be adhered to: Fundamentality of education - one of the main advantages of the current university education is its fundamentality ; Consideration of the needs and requirements of the labor market.

Mechanisms of ensuring these principles

Relatively stable element, which ensures the fundamentality of education (approximately 75% ); Dynamically changing element, which has mainly practical orientation (approximately 25%). It is this block that is formed taking into consideration the needs of the labor market.

10

Collaboration with the employer in the implementation of the curriculum

1. Regular meetings with the company managers currently active in the market, discussion of possible changes to the curriculum in order to reduce the adaptation period of the new employee (twice per academic year). 2. Involving practitioners (the representatives of the labour market) in the academic process. 3. Organizing practical trainings of students as well as pregraduation internship for students in companies.
11

Collaboration with the employer in implementation of the curriculum (continued)

4. Involvement of practitioners in the process of determining the content of courses, dissertations and master's thesis and the subsequent sharing with the RAU faculty members the management of these works. 5. Organization of informational days for companies and organizations active in the labor market in given field on the basis of the university. Presentation of the companies activities directions. Organization of direct meetings of the company representatives with the students. Primary selection of possible candidates for the admission to the company.

12

Basic Problems
1. Employers are often not prepared to participate in the process of developing and improving the quality of the graduate students (technical support / arming of the educational process and staff, financial investment, providing the universities with innovative technologies, etc). 2. Frequent conflict between the demands of the labor market and national qualification frameworks. Regarding to RAU, current problem is more significant as the University has to comply with the both Armenian and Russian legislation. 3. Misunderstanding between the employer and the university in a dialogue on determining the scope of learning outcomes and professional competencies of graduates in a particular specialty.
