Answer (Your research):

1. Explain how Feudalism functions?

Feudalism is simple, yet complicated. In the Middle Ages, Lords would give land to peasants and ask them to farm and maintain it. This land would be called a fief and the peasants would become vassals. In return for farming and maintaining the land, the lord would provide protection from barbarians and hostile forces for the peasants.

3. What role does religion play in feudalism?

Religion played a gigantic role in feudalism. Besides the king, church officials were some of the highest people in the feudal hierarchy. People had to pay 1/10 of their earnings to the church. The church was very important to people. It gave them hope that they could get to heaven. Basically, the church controlled your soul and whether you got to heaven. So, you either believed in the church and went to heaven, or didn't believe in the church and you went to hell.

6. What did the government provide for the people? Go into great detail.

On my manor, the government provides lots of things for the people. They help people out whenever they can. For example, if someone is hungry, Lord Edwin gives them food to eat so they don't starve. He also doesn't make our taxes very high, so we don't go into debt.

I agree to live in the feudal system because it provides me with protection from hostile forces. I have to take an oath of loyalty to my lord, and then he gives me land to farm and maintain. In return, he protects me.
