Senior Program Manager [My position is being eliminated March 23rd for cost cutting]
• Responsible for managing cost, performance, quality against million dollar program budgets. Lead SW
planning (alpha, beta, rc and gm milestones), design reviews, code reviews, bug scrubs and gated PLCM
milestones.
• Lead multi-disciplinary commercial, retail program teams for multi-million dollar New Product
Introductions (NPI) as well as upgraded legacy products for consumer Voice and Video over IP products
through entire the SDLC utilizing and refining company’s product lifecycle management (PLCM) process.
• Products include software technology and architecture (C, C++ driver, middleware, tools and application
development) as well as hardware (sensor and ASIC); primarily personal and teleconferencing audio
speaker systems as well as video streaming web cameras on Windows, Linux and Mac. Platforms range
from high end computers to embedded devices.
• Work closely with all teams (ranging in size from a dozen to over 25 professionals and spread
geographically in Asia, Europe and America); including legal, business development, marketing, sales, pr,
documentation, industrial design, software & hardware engineering, build & configuration, translations,
quality, IT, customer support, FAEs, import/export, manufacturing and operations.
• Drive PLCM process and plan execution from concept (research & analysis) to completion. Facilitate
cross functional communication and coordination, (in-house as well as with third party vendors, partners
and customers). Handle strategic and tactical issues and escalations. Prepare for ramp and release.
• Work includes driving product strategy (market research, competitive analysis, company and industry
technology roadmaps), concept generation (product plan with target market, Bus/Dev and Legal
groundwork, segmentation, pricing, initial margin and ROI estimates), presentations for upper
management concept go-ahead, Market Requirements creation (VOC analysis through surveys and focus
groups as well as MRD including UI and use cases), Engineering Specifications, Program Planning
(Resource, Schedule, Cost, OEM, ODM, Licensing, etc..), upper management program approval, Program
execution and communication (Software design and Code reviews, prototype builds, translations, Quality
metrics and control, Beta trials, etc…), presentations to upper management for release readiness, Release
coordination (PR, press and partner alignment, IT/Web readiness, tech reviews, FAQs, customer support
and post mortem analysis).
• Evangelize company technologies and solutions. Drive strategic partnerships; including PC and Home in-
house and third party interactive solutions – such as the release of software for the High Quality Video
Conferencing partnership with Skype as part of a multimillion dollar venture.

Ageia Technologies, St. Louis, MO October 2005 – June 2006


Software Manager and acting Director [pre-IPO company, acquired by Nvidia in 2008]
• Successfully drove company wide cross-departmental product launch activities for OEM and board
partners of industry first consumer Physics Coprocessor Board. Supports XP, Xbox and PS3 operating
systems. Primary focal point for synchronization of engineering activities with dotted line reporting
structure from non-engineering groups to ensure interlock of development and launch plans.
• Provided tactical and strategic management regarding current and future OS and software support,
roadmap planning, prioritization and direction to software engineering tools team (8 direct reports plus one
manager with three engineers). Responsibilities of my teams include sample applications, tutorials, source
code management, build & integration, end of line manufacturing and board level diagnostics, firmware
testing and compatibility, drivers (including WHQL certification), middleware, plug-ins, installers.

both the US and China.
• Interfaced with all aspects of company (HW & SW Engineering, QA, Business development, Marketing,
Sales, Field and Developer Support, Legal, Documentation and Upper Management). Funnel engineering
capabilities and advances into future products; closely working with product marketing (to establish
internal requirements) as well as field and developer support working with industry representatives (OS
and Media from partners and competitors) and customers (to pull in external requirements and requests).
Helped explore expanded markets and applications.
• Mentored team members. Pursued requirements for and strategies to further capabilities of current and
next generation products. Provided technical expertise where needed with an emphasis on synergistic

ATI Technologies, Markham, ON [acquired by AMD in 2007 then sold to Broadcom in 2008]

• Led multi-disciplinary program teams for new embedded, DTV design wins running Linux on ATI’s
Xilleon SOC using a MIPS32 4KEc processor and MPEG decoder. Responsible for full life cycle software
and hardware management of Digital Video (STB, ITV and integrated video) programs across department
which include multiple, simultaneous products on Linux, Windows and Embedded Oses over multiple
geographic domestic and international locations. Helped department achieve profitability in just over a
year with revenues exceeding a 100 million annually.
• Prioritized, planned, structured, tracked, drove and managed inter-functional team issues/communications
(Software, Marketing, Customer Support, ASIC, Firmware, Legal, Operations, Manufacturing and
Documentation) and drive concurrent deliverables for internal and third party development teams.
• Worked with architects and marketing to define requirements (customer specific as well as those for closed
and open source industry standards like DVB, OCAP and ATSC) for current and future products. Establish
checkpoint and functional team meetings including design and code reviews.
• Communicated status and strategic issues to upper management (VP and GM). Handled escalation and
crisis resolution. Determined risks and established contingency planning for multi-million dollar customer
engagements. ATI had their own COT program. My building contained the manufacturing factory for
prototyping and trial runs.
• Established and refined software process improvements and tracking metrics. Assess and institute tools to
automate process and improve collaboration. Identify metrics to determine trends and improve quality and
responsiveness.
• Provided project consulting services to domestic and international companies. Provided software
development services in C, C++ for embedded systems and digital television.

NVIDIA (&3dfx), Santa Clara, CA October 2000 – March 2002


Senior Software Manager
• Reported directly to the VP of Software and led a driver development team of seven engineers and intern
from its early formation to 20 million dollar revenue (winning design wins against well established
competitors). Extensive multi-os, multi-platform C code including 2D and 3D graphics drivers, DVD
drivers and Open Firmware. Work included board bring-up, bug isolation, performance optimizations and
chip simulation. Program managed extended group (including Development, QA, and Diagnostics).

• Originally started at 3dfx managing an OpenGL team of five employees and two contractors prior to
being acquired by Nvidia soon after. The code was written in C. I and my team brought up an initial
prototype prior to acquisition. Planned schedules, handled budget and team planning and career

Prediwave Corp., Fremont, CA August 1999 – October 2000


Principal Software Architect & Software Manager [Startup company – I was third employee hired]
• Architected and implemented the software for an embedded set top box Application, GUI, Middleware and
Drivers that provides video on demand (VOD) streaming to subscribers.
• Wrote application, GUI and middleware software as well as associated ERSes. Wrote extensive software
in C and Assembly language (for drivers - hard disk, file system, cable modem, memory management and
mpeg decoder) as well as OOP C++ (for components like a Font Manager and screens). Originally
DOCSIS compliant and designed for PSOS on a MIPS platform, then x86 running a lighter-weight,
multithreaded OS. Additional software work includes Windows MFC applications and Win32
applications.
• Managed team of three engineers.

Vetronix, Inc., Santa Barbara, CA May 1997 - August 1999


Principal Engineer
• Led four engineers developing application and driver for handheld, embedded OS (PSOS) computer
performing automotive diagnostics and oscilloscope measurements.
• The sophisticated device captured analog and digital data. Wrote extensive code from graphical user
interface to ftp client/servers (Win32, Winsock). Coding was done on Windows using Visual C++.

Apple Computer, Inc., Cupertino, CA May 1988 - May 1997


Senior Software Engineer Operating System Division
• Created STREAMS networking and serial communications architecture for new OS using C and Object
Oriented C++.
• Created and managed of OS and driver development kits (DDKs). Wrote HTML and Java utilities.
Provided inter-departmental/division technical assistance to engineering teams.
• Taught objected orient programming through Apple’s Developer University classes, created and
provided C++ sample code, presented at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco
and instructed at Developer “kitchens” in the US and Europe.

Senior Software Engineer Hardware Division


• Created first native, RISC based driver (Graphics) and DDK for developers. I was a contributor to
“Designing PCI Cards and Drivers”.
• Wrote an audio application, ISO & PhotoCD translators and SCSI drivers.
• Taught driver development classes for Apple Developers.
• Created a mission statement and charter for PowerPC optimization team and led the team. I researched
industry directions and defined specifications. Estimated costs and budgets.

Software QA and Engineering Network and Communications Division


• Wrote networking and communications tools, applications and drivers in C and C++ for Mac and Unix
platforms. I was a technical advisor for products ranging from Ethernet and TokenRing cards to serial
boards and drivers. Added code to various protocol stacks from AppleTalk to TCP/IP.
