Weekly Tip:
Follow this list of Do Nots on job applications to avoid missing your chances of getting that interview! DO NOT:
- Skim the instructions: Be sure you read carefully and slowly. - Exaggerate you qualifications: avoid the temptation to build up your credentials, fabrication can lead to immediate dismissal - Respond with generic statements: instead of generic answers on your skills/experience, highlight and front load the skills that are most relevant to the job in which you are applying for - Write a list of duties: when describing a job, stay away from listing the duties and instead describe how you added value to the job - Write See Attached: Many employers will screen the application first, so even if information may be duplicated on a resume, take the time to fill in the blanks - Have Spelling/Grammatical Errors: - List an unprofessional sounding email: If your email address sounds non-professional, it is recommended to set up an account for job related purposes.
