Spells are one of many ritual activities that many Wiccans engage in. Not all Wiccans cast spells; they are a matter of personal preference.
Spells can be designed to attempt to either harm or help others. Thus, there are both evil spells and healing spells. The same magickal processes are used for both. Before performing a spell, Wiccans carefully think through all the possible repercussions of a spell to make certain that it does not have a manipulative component. Wiccans believe that spells alter the course of the universe and are not to be entered lightly without thoroughly considering all of its possible effects.

There are probably as many types and designs of Wiccan spells as there are Wiccans: Some spells are very simple, consisting of only a few phrases and actions. This spell is simple! All you need are few things and it probably wont total to $5. As with most love spells this spell should be done on a Friday during the waxing moon. Basic Spell Construction

Because of the very nature of Magick, each working should be highly individualized and personal. Even if following a traditional spell, it should be tailored to your specific needs to be most effective for you. Understanding the basics of Spell Construction will enable you to formulate your own specific, effective spells for any purpose you desire.

Preliminary planning is necessary. The very first step is to decide precisely what your desired end result is to be. Before you can start, you must decide

where you are going. You must be very explicit. It is important, also, that you choose your time carefully. You should take into consideration all Astrological implications, energy currents and Moon phases.

The Moon is the astronomical body closest to us and, therefore, has a profound influence upon us, it is very important to choose a time when the Moon is in an astrological sign which is appropriate for your working. For example: Aries/Action - Enthusiasm, Taurus/ Renewal - Sensuality, Gemini/Communication Curiosity, Cancer/ Emotion - Nurturing, Leo/Vitality - Determined, Virgo/Organizing - Studious, Libra/Balance - Cooperation, Scorpio/Sexual Philosophical, Capricorn/Authority - Ambitious, Aquarius/Innovation Social, Pisces/Sensitivity - Idealistic.

Bear in mind that magical workings for gain, increase or bringing things to you, should be initiated when the Moon is Waxing (from Dark to Full); when the Moon is Waning (from Full to Dark), it is time for magical workings of decrease or sending away.

The highest energy occurs at the Full Moon and, therefore, this is the most powerful time for magickal workings. The New Moon is the next most powerful time for Magick.

Whenever possible, follow Nature's natural Energy Currents. There is a natural time for starting things (a planting time), for maturing things (a growing time), for reaping things ( a harvest time) and, of course, a time for rest and planning.

Flowing with these currents will make your magical work much easier. Remember to plan your project for a time of uninterrupted privacy. It is important that you have no distractions!!! Generally speaking, it is best to work as late at night as possible. A time when there is less frantic energy is most appropriate. You might consider Midnight or later. After all, midnight is the magical hour of most spells and rituals, and you will draw the MOST energy during a fool moon from various Great Spirits!

In choosing a place to do your magical working pay- particular attention to your needs, for you must be comfortable. Your place should be private, quiet and secure. If at all possible, set aside a special place for this purpose only. An unused room, a special corner of your bedroom, a quiet, secluded spot in your garden. A place that is all yours. A place that you can come to whenever need arises and that is as free from intrusion of others as possible.

Prior to the night of your magical working, gather together the things that you will need. All of the things used are tools. They have no inherent magic. They are to help you create a mood. If correctly made and used, they will trigger primitive responses from deep within you. They should be chosen with care. Consider the purpose of your ritual and choose your tools accordingly. If your

magic is to be sexual, your candles, oils, incenses and so forth, should bring forth a sexual response. If the desired result of your Magic is Tranquility, then the tools should make you feel calm, peaceful and serene. Any candles you might use should not have commercially added fragrances as these may not be appropriate for your working.

Prior to your ritual, prepare yourself and your equipment by any means necessary to clean and purify. Historically, people have fasted, followed meticulous and detailed bathing practices, practiced chastity and used many other methods.

Most often a Ritual Bath is the preferred method. A bath frequently utilizing candlelight, fragrant herbs, bath salts or sensuous oils. A sumptuous hot bath, special bathing preparations and appropriate lighting, combined, can create the soothing effect which will help in the very important step of relaxing and clearing the mind completely of all mundane thoughts and experiences of the day. Your ritual Bath should, also, begin to set the specific vibrations conducive to

your purpose into motion. You must not only cleanse and purify but must, also, begin to create the type of energy necessary. Once your purification process has been accomplished, you are now ready to begin. Proceed to the special place you have previously chosen in which to perform your magic. If at all possible, you should make use of the primitive responses set into motion by a well-chosen peice of music. Your music should start slowly and build to a rousing climax.

As you use your oils, light your candle or incense (or utilize any other tool you have chosen), you should begin to further intensify the energy that you have set into motion around you. A high degree of intensity is vitally important.

The Altered State of Consciousness that you must reach is not a meditative state. Anything that interferes with your ability to concentrate upon, reach and control the high energy state necessary to perform magick should be avoided. Such as, screaming children, a sink full of dirty dishes, use of alcohol or drugs, etc.

Do not scatter your energy by attempting to do more than one magical working at a time! As SO many witches do! Is very draining, can be quite harmful, and you just may wind up getting the opposite effect of the desired spell! So just relax, breathe slowly, and concentrate, really focus-on only one spell at a time!

Remember that Magic is the manipulation of energy, a thought is a form of energy and a visualization is an even stronger form of energy. Your visualization can be a method used to intensify further and direct your will. Your visualization can be the method by which you control the magical energy

you have produced. You must know what you want. You must see it. You must feel the high-energy flow. You must direct it.

One of the most important elements in the practice of any form of Magic is the Universal Law of Cause and Effect. This means that whatever you do (or don't do) you cause something to happen.

The most important consideration is the Universal Law of Retribution. This means that no matter what you do, it comes back to you in like kind. So just remember that! Many DONT!

It is the nature of things that as you send something out it gains momentum, so that, by the time it comes back to you, it is three times stronger. If you do something nice for someone, someone will do something nicer for you.

A True Beauty Spell A TRUE BEAUTY SPELL

Prepare:

A dish full of earth (good soil, not dry dusty dirt) A yellow candle A full-sized mirror Olive, patchouli, jasmine or cinnamon essential oil A small flower pot A flower or plant seed

Anoint the candle with the essential oil you have chosen. Place it in the center
of the dish of earth. Light it and sit down with it between you and a mirror.

Look deeply into the mirror, concentrate on your reflection. Without being vain,
consider the things you find most beautiful about yourself, not just physically, but mentally as well. What is your inner beauty, what is your outer beauty?

Its important that you never think of what you feel must be "changed". Be as positive about the beauty that you have already. Perform this ritual 3 nights in a row.

Once the entire candle has burned down, remove the wax from the dish. Place the earth from the dish inside a small flower pot and plant a seed inside it. Water it and care for it so that it grows properly. You will soon find that your own beauty will grow, flourish and shine brighter then ever before, just as the plant grows before you, emerging from its seed. A SPELL FOR BINDING

Use a red piece of paper. Purify and consecrate it by use of the four elements.
Prepare the altar using red candles. Burn one sheet of paper previously rubbed

with essence of lavender and rose. As the paper burns, thoughts and emotions of
the one who is making the spell must be raised to a high pitch. Persons name must be written on red paper and the wish to bind to bring love to a person.

Light a red candle and chant while it burns:

"As this candle is red

(name) is now being led by (Witch's name) witching fire toward warmth and desire.

For s/he will become Together as two, then be as one Under the stars, moon and sun Soon, soon, soon. As I will, so mote it be!" Let the candle burn an inch for one month, two inches for two months, etc.

A Spell For Confidence

You will need: A piece of cedar wood about 18 inches long Rose geranium oil Chip a little of the wood off and put it to one side. Place 7 drops of rose

geranium onto the cedar wand and holding it in your right hand, trace a circle around yourself (or have someone do it for you) and visualize a glowing sphere of light encasing you as you say: "The protective shield of the god/dess keeps me from harm allows my power to grow within me to share for the good of all." Place a drop of rose geranium oil on the small piece of cedar and carry it with you. Do this ritual every morning. Tip: Black tea drunk with lemon is good for courage. A Spell To See The Great Spirits/Deities!

To see spirits, old European grimoires recommend mixing together aloe, pepper, musk, vervain and saffron, and burning this in a cemetary. We can adapt this for other locations (like those in which the spirit lived) by adding a bit of sweetgrass or tobacco to a specially prepared incense. Create the incense on the anniversary of the death of the individual you wish to contact. This is then burned at 11 am, in the safety of a majick circle that also holds symbolic items to connect you to the entity.

An incantation to encourage the spirit's presence is:

"Guardians of the Spirit realm, hear and guide my plea. When the witching hour rings true, bring my relationship, name of person to me. Other souls who hear my call,

are not welcome in this place. Only the one known as name of person may enter sacred space."

Repeat the request three times, twenty minutes apart, then wait quietly for indications of a presence. Signs include the scent of flowers, or favored cologne, a cool wind, movement of curtains, and candles going out or twitching erratically. Once you feel sure the spirit is with you, do not make it tarry overly long. Take care of your business, say farewell, and thank the guardians for their assistance before closing the circle.

A Word of Caution: Spiritual entities should not be banished or called for amusement. It is best to contact a knowledgeable, experienced psychic for advice or assistance before undertaking any spells of this type. It is used for communication, and understanding the purpose of spirits. The spell is at the heart of folk magick. it is simply a ritual in which various tools are purposefully used, the goal is fully stated (in words, pictures or within the mind): & energy is moved to bring about the needed result.

Spells can be as simple as reciting a short chant over a fresh rose while placing it between 2 pink candles in order to draw love; forming & retaining an image of the needed result in the mind; or placing a quartz crystal in a sunny window for protection purposes.

COMPOSE THE RHYME OR WORDS OF POWER

Clearly state your need.

Clearly state all dimensions of your need (enduring love, rather than just love; complete protection, rather than just physical protection; etc.).

If possible, mention some of the tools that you've decided to use in the spell in your words of power or magical rhyme. Indeed, for some spells, these words may help you to structure the entire rhyme or chant.

Use hypnotic words (those beginning with 's" or containing a "z") for psychicawareness, love, healing spells; Use potent, strong words for protection spells. match the words to the type of ritual you're composing.

Don't expect the words to simply flow from you. Work at it & work with them. Your psychic mind knows what you need.

EXAMPLES:

"I ask in the name of (Goddess & God or The All) that I, Morgan, be granted (state desire)...I ask that this be correct & for the good of all people. So mote it be. In no way will this spell reverse, or place upon me any curse."

"In this night & in this hour, I call upon the Ancient power. O Goddess Bride & Consort Bright, I ask thee now to bring your light."

"I have a need that must be met. I ask thee (name of deity) that I obtain the perfect (whatever it is) for (reason)."

"I ask the Universe to lend the power of all the correct astrological correspondences so they may enter this circle now to obtain my desire."

"Therefore, I specifically draw toward myself the (desire) without affecting the free will of all & harming none."

"I now proclaim this spell is done. The (desire) is mine! In no way will this spell reverse, or place upon me any curse! As I will, so mote it be!"

BREAKING A SPELL

First Saturday after Full Moon or on a Full Moon; One white & One black candle for balance; Props: protective nature (amethyst, apache tears or smoky quartz)

Specifically ( ) May this spell be lifted & I now be gifted Specifically with ( )"

SPELLS TO BIND A binding spell is the act of grasping the negative energy that is propelling a person or thing & stopping it. In a way, you are negating the unhealthy energy.

The most important thing to remember when conducting a binding spell is that you must control your own violent emotions of hatred or fear. The binding spell is for protection only, not for harm. This is not easy. The Goddess to be employed is Aradia, Queen of Witches. Be sure you are honest in your intentions. Aradia's symbol is the red garter. If you desire justice call upon Maat, she who balances the scales. However, you must be sure that your own hands are free from violence & hatred, lest she weighs the scales for you as well! Her symbol is the pure white feather.

The binding itself is a very simple matter. A poppet can be sewn to represent the malicious person. Fill it with earth (grave dirt if you can find it), rosemary, sage, a piece of smoky quartz & a piece of amethyst. Also enclose a piece of the person's fingernails, a lock of hair, or another personal item. Handwriting can be enclosed if you have nothing else. Photos can be used also. If your intention at any time during the ritual is to harm that person, remember

that you will only bring harm upon yourself - so be very, very careful.

If you can't do the ritual right away, store the doll (with the head still open) in a white cloth. During the ritual, you will sew up the head while connecting a psychic link. Angel Trap

The purpose of the angel trap is to capture and dissolve any 'angels' created on the astral by the fundamentalists to seek out and harass anyone that does not share their religious beliefs.

You will need:

a clean jar with a tight lid soapy water kosher salt paint (black, red and yellow) sealing wax a lighter or matches

Preparation:

* With your black paint, paint X's all around the middle of the jar. They don't have to be large to be effective. When that is dry, paint an X on the bottom of the jar. Let dry. The purpose of the X's is this: when the angels get trapped in the jar, they will look for a way out. There will be none. They will have no choice but to dissolve. They will also know never to bother you again for they will know what the consequences will be.

Pour the soapy water into the jar, swirl it around coating all sides. Pour the water back out.

Slowly pour the salt into the jar. Turn the jar at an angle to coat all sides. While this is drying, paint the lid black. Let dry.

Next, take the lid and paint a pentagram on the top of it using the red paint.

When that is dry, paint a spiral in the center of the pentagram using the yellow paint. Visualize this spiral as being a pathway into the center of the jar.

When the spiral is dry, carefully put the lid back on the jar making sure not to dislodge the salt.

Use the wax to seal the jar.

Anger Spell

This spell needs to be done alongside flowing water - I suggest in a private corner surrounded by bushes at the side of a stream. Create your circle. Cup a black stone in your hands and raise it to your forehead, concentrate and send all your anger into the stone. Do this for as long as you can until you can do it no longer, then hurl the stone with all your might into the water and say:

"With this stone Anger be gone Water bind it No-one find it!"

Place your palms upon the ground for a few moments to earth the power and allow your circle to fade. Now go home and take care of yourself for you may feel depleted for a while, but you will be better. Alternatively, you may feel great straight away.

Symbolic baneful actions are also cathartic actions. They drain and clear our poisonous feelings and allow our own emotional healing to begin. If we deny ourselves this outlet, what happens to the grief and pain and rage?

At first it seems like an insoluble paradox. But the same understanding of magic that forbids projection of our bad feelings can open a safe channel for those feelings. Here's one possible form:

If your hurt is ongoing, take steps to stop it...What good this Circle does you will be temporary at best if you are not acting on both the magical and material planes... Prevention and healing are human tasks; to do them is to change the things we can change. Justice - the evening of karmic balances - is the business of the Gods, and may take place across a span of many lifetimes. Karmic balance is not a thing we can change.

2/ Set Up * You have some decisions to make. 1: Whether you will work alone or ask one or more trusted friends to witness and facilitate your working. 2. Nest, exactly what kind of symbolic action will release your feelings? Will kicking a pillow suffice, or do you need to make a poppet, or will screaming work? If you want to work with a physical symbol, prepare it in advance. Do not use anything you will want to keep after the rite or ever use again. 3: Figure out whether you can cast a Circle to include your bathroom, or leave a cast Circle for a period of time. If possible, have a warm scented tub waiting for you. If not, a basin of warm scented water and a washcloth within easy reach just outside your Circle will suffice. Also, a ritual meal, including something green and growing, and something sweet, should be prepared and waiting just outside the Circle.

3/ Procedure

Waning moon is a good time, and the Dark of the Moon is even better. Cast the Circle and invoke the Watchers in your usual manner. Call on the Crone, on She who weeds and prunes and disposes of the obstructive and unnecessary.

Just inside the Circle, like a membrane in an eggshell, cast a grounding shield. One possible image for this shield would be a black absorptive chain link fence, supported at regular intervals by fence posts that are lightning rods. Whatever happens within this space will be grounded.

Make clear to yourself what you wish to drain. Say it aloud, even if you are alone. Recall what happened to you in detail and let the feelings grow strong.

Now let go of your feelings. Do whatever will help you to release what is in you. Beat on a pillow or rip up a doll. Scream till you cry. Don't stop till you are emptied. Then fling the thing you used as a symbol out of the Circle.

When you are sure you are all done, all drained, contract the shield into a tight ball in the center of the Circle. As it contracts, it will gather the negative energy from the Circle. Ground it. Affirm that you are sending this energy to the fire at the heart of the Earth to be purified in that blast furnace and cycled to wherever strong energy is needed. Know that what you now let go is gone. Affirm this vocally.

Wash or bathe in ritual manner, feeling the last traces of your bad feelings dissolve away. If others are present, allow them to wash and serve you. Rest for a few minutes. Feel the peace of emptiness.

Then invoke the Maiden's energy for new beginnings. Have the ritual feast, and indulge your senses. Gentle and joyful music would be effective, and you may wish to switch to a sweeter smelling incense. This is a time to dream dreams and plan plans. You have removed an energy drain from your life, and you can.......?

Thank and dismiss whatever Beings you have called on, throughout the whole ritual. Close your Circle as usual. Do not do any other kinds of working or worship within this particular Circle.

Follow Through:

The final part of any effective magical working is "acting in accordance" on the material plane. By doing this we give the magic a channel through which to manifest. For this working, there are three forms of follow through, and all are important.

1/ Remember that painful feelings are partly habitual. Stop feeding the habit. Don't talk about the pain with anybody until at least the second

full moon after the working. This gives the habit the chance to fade out. Eliminate the topic from your internal dialogue as well. Thinking about action to change your life is perfectly ok; the problem is reiteration about the old feelings of frustration and helplessness that impede change.

2/ If the hurtful situation is current and ongoing, continue with any steps you were taking to change the things you can change. In fact, you will probably find you have more energy than you did before to devote to your projects.

3/ Be sure to use some of your newly freed emotional energy to reward yourself. Take time for friendship, love, and pleasure. The object of the exercise is to clear space for the enjoyment of life, so start right now.

Animal Healing Spell

"Spirits of the Forest, an animal is dying, Take the Life force of this spell and save it."

This spell requires no ritual, but it can only be used on hurt animals and you must be touching the animal (not suggested use for rabies). This is an ancient spell; it might not work, but don't let that discourage you. Believe in the power sent to the animal by you.

Anti-depression Spell

Here is a sure-fire, anti-depression spell. Note that this spell requires the daily involvement of the depressed person.

1. Mornings just after sunrise and evenings just before sunset are to be spent outdoors in silent meditation, eyes open. 20 to 30 mins is good. Concentrate on your breathing, and if the weather is in climate, a spot in front of a east-facing window in the morning, west-facing in the evening. Your thoughts, if any, should be of the sun.

2. No more than 4 and no less than 3 nights per week, your evening meal should consist mainly of fresh shellfish -- crab, shrimp, oysters, etc. Your thoughts during these meals should be of the moon and the tides.

3. On those mornings of the days when you are not having shellfish as your

evening meals, you should begin you day with the following tea: 1 tsp. feverfew tincture in alcohol (you can prepare this by soaking dried feverfew in vodka for 2 weeks, or buy it from an herbal store), 1/4 tsp American ginseng powder, 1 tsp lemon balm, 1 tsp green tea. Pour boiling water over all of this in a Chinese tea-pot, and drink all the tea.

4. At least 3 days of the week, go for a 20 - 30 min walk in a quiet, outdoors, preferably wooded area. You should walk at a quick pace, and your thoughts should be on the harmony of nature, and your place in the natural world.

5. Avoid alcohol except very occasionally and moderately.

6. If this spell hasn't been effective after a month, schedule a visit to talk with your doctor. An addition to this spell that works even better is taking one Prozac a day. Your doctor can help you get hold of this.

ARTISTIC INSPIRATION

Prepare:

Pen, pencil or paintbrush (depending on the art form) Elmer's glue Silver glitter Almond, sage or vanilla essential oil A white candle

This is a simple spell to bring you divine inspiration to write and create visual art.

Anoint the candle with the essential oil you have chosen and using an athame or a small, sharp tool, inscribe the name "Brighid" (goddess of poetic inspiration), or if you prefer not to invoke a deity, simply inscribe your art form which you need inspiration in. Light your candle and begin.

Squeeze some glue onto a piece of scrap paper and dip the end (not the useable part) of your craft tool into it, covering about an inch deep. Then roll the end in the glitter so that it is completely covered. As you do, focus on the inspiration you seek. Say your own blessing over the tool, then situate it so that it can dry without the glittered end getting smashed. The next day, make a few attempts at your art with your newly enchanted tool in hand. Let the inspiration come to you and flow from your mind to your material.

SPELL TO BANISH NEGATIVE ENERGY FROM A HOUSE

Take four black candles and put them at each of the cardinal points of your house. Next to each candle put a piece of onyx or lodestone or a piece of magnetized iron. Light the four candles and see them sucking up all the negative energy in the house and channeling it back into the earth through the stones.

Next take a stick of incense (frankincense or sandalwood is best) and draw a banishing pentagram of Earth at each window, wall, door and corner of your house. (To draw a banishing pentagram of Earth: start at lower left then up to top then down to right then across to upper left point and back to upper right point and finish at lower left point.) Visualize the negative energy being pushed beyond the pentagram and locked outside as you complete it. After the candles have burned a bit and you feel that the have absorbed the negative energies bury them outside around the house (in the four directions). These are the basic tools for the spell. Add to this oils, ( I like cinnamon - protection, love, healing) or crystals, stones or whatever you feel you need to use. You don't have to anything because, the ritual itself is enough on its own. just remember its YOUR spell.

Choose your dark mother, the one who applies to your situation. I chose Kali - Ma, as she is the protector of women and children. I also feel strongly bonded to her. Know your choice of deity! Study her/him.

Find a special spot, preferably outdoors, because you will burn the paper. Write down all your hurt, and pain, and difficulties. ( sadness, loneliness ... what ever you are feeling) You might even write a letter to the individual(s) who made you feel this way.

As it burns, thank the spirit for the taking these burdens from you and giving you peace. thank her for the gifts you know you will receive.

Imagine yourself free of your troubles. Imagine yourself enveloped by the goddess' strength and protection.

This is a spell for love gone wrong, for ending a personal, family or business Relationship that you no longer wish to be in. It is a fire spell. To work it, gather herbs of protection and an image of the person (photograph, poppet, etc.) Something written in their own hand, a lock of hair, a piece of clothing or a personal object will also do. Put everything into a fireproof container iron cauldron, marble mortar, whatever - and set fire to it as you perform the spell. Add the photograph or a piece of paper with the person's name on it if you have trouble getting the fire going. It should make a very satisfactory blaze that reduces to ashes. A BASIC LOVE SPELL

(Be careful how you use these) Take three cords or strings of various, pleasing pastel colors- perhaps pink, red, and green- and braid them tightly together. Firmly tie a knot near one end of the braid, thinking of your need for love.

Next, tie another knot, and another, until you have tied seven knots. Wear or carry the cord with you until you find your love.

After that, keep the cord in a safe place, or give to one of the elements- burn and scatter the ashes in the ocean or in a stream.

What Youll Need:

1 four leaf clover basil lavender 5 white candles

Make a start and light the black candles counter clock wise. Draw a picture of the nightmare that has been plaguing you. With the north candle burn the paper and place it in the fireproof dish.
