DARE-AFFIAT (OLD HOME)
AFFLIATED IN PUNJAB OF PAKISTAN

INTRODUCTION:
Many elders are quietly suffering indignity at the hands of those who they taught to
say their first words and take their first steps. It is shocking that the largest
perpetrators of Elder Abuse are their own children. A long life should be everybody’s
right, but for older people the capacity to meet basic needs is increasingly
compromised by age.
As we enter the 21st century, we observe the gradual decline of old norms and
structures to make way for modern fancies and style of living that has little time for
old traditions. Its am altogether different one, the speed and frenetic pace has resulted
in disintegration of combined families and migration of family members to cities,
other parts of the country and world. In addition to this, many families have working
couples possessing earning capacity to meet both ends; they remain away from homes
for long hours leaving senior citizens to fend for themselves, the same leading to
difficulties. Senior citizens find it lonely and difficult to spend long hours without
some one to take care of themselves and other domestic responsibilities. Problem is
more if they are bedridden.
Developed societies have a balanced and well laid out old age structure and schemes
that assures excellent and quality senior citizen homes with all amenities and services
to take care of their needs and old age worries. pakistan has very few of such caliber,
we aim to reshape this discrepancy and assure a world class integrated senior citizen

WEAKNESSES:

Financial Unsustainability:

At the present stage of development of the NGO sector of Pakistan, financial

Sustainability of the operations of nonprofit organizations remains a big issue. This is
a reflection partly of the lack of government support, which is very limited,

Lack of Professionalization and Training

The process of development of the nonprofit sector of Pakistan has been retarded by
the lack of adequate human resources with nonprofit organizations.

OPPORTUNITIES
DARE AFFIAT Foundations and charities use sophisticated public relations
campaigns to raise funds and employ standard lobbying techniques with governments
We are often asked dare affiat is focusing the health aspect of the elderly population.
All in all, priority issues among older people are: poverty and lack of income-earning
opportunities, lack of access to care and healthcare, and social, economic and political
exclusion. Poverty, poor health and exclusion are inherently linked. Poverty is a cause
of exclusion, and ongoing exclusion from information, services, and opportunities
increases vulnerability and therefore poverty.
A lifetime of poverty results in poor health, and also greatly limits access to medicine
and care, thus contributing to continuing poor health. Poor health in turn limits older
people’s ability to earn money, thereby trapping them in a vicious cycle. We believe
that healthy people make for a healthier world. Of the top 10 diseases that are
prevalent among the elderly population in Pakistan - hypertension, cataract,
osteoarthritis, lung diseases such as asthma and bronchitis, heart disease, diabetes,
prostate enlargement, indigestion, constipation and depression - several are
manageable with moderate amounts of medication, lifestyle changes and care.

THREATS

The nonprofit sector remains relatively small and underdeveloped in Pakistan. During
the decade of the 1990s, it has demonstrated some nascent growth resulting from a
number of favorable factors like the return to democracy, the growing push towards
deregulation and privatization, the process of globalization and the emergence of
international coalitions of civil society and the deterioration in the financial position
of governments which has limited the public provision of social services SPDC
(2002) reveals that public sector contributes only 6 percent of cash revenues of the
nonprofit sector in Pakistan

The lack of government support is clearly a reflection of the largely indifferent or

somewhat hostile attitude of government towards nonprofit organizations. Limited
funding Local governments inherently are more concerned directly with the provision
of municipal services and less with broader issues relating to social and political
change.

ADVERTISING PLAN /DECISION:

ADVERTISING OBJECTIVE
Funding and Fund raising: Remember money does not grow on trees. Even if a
'donation' is made to a programme or activity, it is done with an objective in mind
Develop a comprehensive long-term programme, but break it into smaller chunk sized
bits to seek funding for each part, from the same or sometimes different sources.
A diversified fund-raising programme is very important. An interesting thumb-rule -
closer the donor, smaller the amount. A person walking on the street in your town may
provide only small change that he currently has in his pocket. But a more 'distant'
person or organization may provide more funding.
TARGETING THE AUDIENCE
Individuals
Dare-affiat biggest supporters are its community of individual donors who give
regularly, often without any expectation of returns, save satisfaction gained from
doing a good deed. Among them are school children as young as 5, motivated by
teachers and parents, to do their bit for the elderly.
GOVERNMENT CORPORATE & BUSINESS HOUSESS
More companies are now choosing to implement socially responsible policies in
response to the increasing number of customers, stakeholders and employees who
demand that businesses give something back to society. So the organization has more
emphasis on youngsters and business man.

IMPLEMENTATION:
• They are driven by values that reflect a desire to improve peoples lives
• They are voluntary (i.e. formed by choice, and involving voluntary
Contributions of time and money
• They are not for profit (i.e. not distributing profit to staff or shareholders)
• They have a clearly stated and definable public purpose
• They respond to, and are accountable to, a constituency
• Generate the funds for poor old people.

EVALUATION:
PAKISTAN Population: 157 million
Population living in poverty 33%3 Ethics in dare affiat is very much involved with the
identity of the sector, the practices of the organization, and the public information
provided by the organization in other words, Who you are, What you do, and What
you say you do. A dare affiat that is seeking to raise money locally is built, both
morally and legally on Trust.
