DORA THE EXPLORER EXPLORATION TO PROTEIN SYNTHESIS Scene 1: DNA is crying and Boots see it. Boots: Dna!

Dna! Why are you crying? Is there any problem? DNA: Hey Boots! Dont bother that you care. Cause for sure you cant help. Boots: If thats what you think, Ill just go. (Boots walked out but DNA called Boots back.) DNA: Boots? Boots: Yes? (Boots smiled.) DNA: Im sorry if I acted that way. I just felt that no one can help me right now. Ive lost my way. All other DNA molecules have been proteins right now. Boots: Proteins? DNA: Yes. Proteins. I have to be a protein for me to control the rate of reactions and regulate cell processes. Some are used to form bones and muscles Others transport substances into or out of the cells or help to fight disease. Boots: Oh! I see! Proteins are really important to living organism. Like me! DNA: I need to be a protein right now, for a living organism needs me. Boots: Hmmmmm.. (Bright Idea: *Ting) DNA. I have a friend that can surely help you to become a protein. Hey! Lets go. Come with me. Scene 2: Dora is sitting in the chair, browsing a book. Suddenly boots came in hurry with DNA. Boots: Dora, Dora! Dora: Yes Boots? Why are you in hurry? Is there anything wrong? Boots: Kinda. Im worried about my friend named DNA. (Boots pointed DNA ) Dora: who is DNA? Boots: DNA came from the family of nucleic acids. Her whole name is Deoxyribonucleic acid. DNA is a molecule encoding the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms and many viruses. She needs to be a protein right now. As in now! Dora: Okay! She sounds familiar to me. To be a protein? Boots: Yes to be protein! For proteins Dora: are needed by us living organism. Okay! Lets go! Boots: (Confused Face) Wait. How did you know?

Dora: It was told to us by our Biology Teacher. In fact, our homework is about processes behind protein synthesis. So we can work together to help DNA to be a protein and to finish my homework. Its like hitting two birds with one stone. DNA: I really need your help Dora and Boots. I need to be a protein. Dora: Will you help DNA to be a protein? (Hands on ear) GREAT! Boots: Okay! Okay! So Lets start. Where should we go first? Dora: Who do we ask for help when we dont which way to go? Boots: MAP! Dora: THE MAP! Will you check the map and find out how to get DNA to the places where processes of protein synthesis happens? You have to say map! (*music plays*) DNA and Boots: Louder! (Map Scene and music plays) Dora: How do DNA can be a protein? CELL. DNA REPLICATION and TRANSCRIPTION inside the nucleus. TRANSLATION inside the group of ribosome. First we go through the cell. Then inside the nucleus where DNA Replication happens, the first stage in Protein Synthesis and where the transcription occur. Next, we will move out the nucleus, moves to the cytoplasm towards the ribosome, where the actual synthesis of protein takes place. So DNA can be a protein! But for short! Cell! Nuclues! Ribosomes! DNA: So we need to go inside a cell first. Boots: Cell? DNA: Yes. A Cell. Cells are the basic unit of life and all the chemical reactions of life occur in cells. Boots: Do I have cells? Dora: Yes, boots. Youre a living organism. Boots: Aha. So Lets go inside the cell. DNA: But how we can go inside the cell? Dora: Lets go to the laboratory of Professor Mojojojow! Maybe she can help us to go inside the cell. Do you see Professor Mojojojow laboratory? Boots: Yeah! There it is. Dora: Come on! Bamunos!

DNA: Lets go inside the cell! Boots: So DNA can be a protein! (*Music plays*) Dora: Woah! Professor Mojojojow Laboratory is really far away! Scene 3: Dora, Boots and Dna are going to the laboratory of Professor Mojojojow. Dora: Good morning Professor! Professor mojojojow: Good morning Dora! Anything you need? Dora: We need to go inside a cell. Professor mojojojow: Aha! What are you gonna do inside a cell? Dora: Our friend Dna should be transformed into a protein. Protein synthesis happens inside a cell. Sheve lost her way. Professor mojojojow: Oh! I see! I have a special machine here that can drive you inside the cell. It is called the cell submarine. Boots: Wow! Its amazing! We? Were going inside the cell! Hooray! (Professor mojojojow gave something to Dora, a remote control.) Professor mojojojow: That remote control will bring you back again to my lab. So take care of it. It also contains some information that will help you. Dora: Thank you professor! DNA: Thank you for the help Professor Mojojojow! Professor mojojojow: Okay! Youre welcome! The three of you. Go inside this machine and ride the cell submarine (Dora, Boots and DNA follow Professor Mojojojow.) Scene 4: Dora, Boots and Dna are inside the machine. Dora press start and their journey began. Scene 5: Dora, Boots are still riding in the cell submarine. DNA is in the cell. Boots: Woah! Its incredible. Dora: Amazing. Were now inside a cell. DNA: Finally, we already got here. Thank you Dora and Boots. (*music plays*) Ill promise! Ill gonna help your body if I become a protein!

Boots: Youll gonna be a protein! Youll be the most nutritious protein in the whole world! DNA: Thank you Boots! Dora: We made it to go inside the cell! Boots: Where we go next Dora? Dora: (*Music plyas*) CELL. NUCLEUS. RIBOSOMES. We went through the cell. (*Music plays*) So next comes the (*Music plays*) Nucleus! Right! Do you see the nucleus! Boots: Yeah! There it is! Dora: Come on! Bamonos! DNA: Lets go the nucleus! (*Music plays*) Dora: Oh oh! That sounds like Swiper the fox! Boots: Swiper! Thats sneaky fox is always trying to swipe our stuff. Dora: Help not to swipe the remote control! Or else we cannot go back to the forest! If you see Swiper the fox, yell Swiper! (*Music plays*) You see swiper? Boots: Oh! No! Swiper is here! Hes gonna swipe the remote control! Dora: Lets shout! Swiper! No swiping! Boots: Lets repeat! Swiper! No swiping! Swiper: Oh! Men! (Swiper leaves the place) Dora: Come on! We gotta go inside the nucleus! (*Music plays*) Boots: But where is the nucleus? DNA: Do you see the nucleus? (*Music plays*) Dora: The Nucleus! DNA: That large blue object studded with small yellow openings that is the nucleus. The nucleus is uniquely recognizable by the system of pores embedded within its outer membrane. Biological materials move in and out through this pores. Boots: So Lets now enter the nucleus! (The cell submarine enters the nucleus and the DNA will unzips itself.)

Helicase: Hello! Im Helicase! Im the one who will unzips the DNA. Dora: Hi but why does it happen? Helicase: Everytime DNA is replicated, we, helicase, will unzip the strand of the DNA. (The DNA unzips itself.) Helicase: Hey! Take a look of those things! Dora: What are those? (Free Floating nucleotides came) Free Floating nucleotides: Hey! We heard that you are talking about us! We are the free floating nucleotides. We will converge on both halves of the splitting ladder of the DNA to repair them and this will result of the creation of the two replicas of DNA molecule. Boots: It is really amazing! Free Floating nucleotides: Youre just on the first stage of protein synthesis! Dora: and yet it is really amazing! (The Free Floating Nucleotides converge on both halves of the splitting ladder of the DNA to repair them and this will result of the creation of the two replicas of DNA molecule.) Dora: Yey! The DNA had already created the two replicas of itself! DNA: Excellent! (*Music plays*) DNA: So whats next? Dora: You are going to be transcripted. According to the remote, Professor Mojojojow has given, Part of your one strand will acts as template on which a molecule of RNA is formed. (RNA is formed.) RNA: Hello DNA! Im Ribonucleic Acid. RNA for short. I came from ubiquitous family of large biological molecules that perform multiple vital roles in the coding, decoding, regulation, and expression of genes. Together with you, I comprises the nucleic acids, which, along with proteins, constitute the three major macromolecules essential for all known forms of life. Like you, I am assembled as a chain of nucleotides, but is usually single-stranded. DNA: Hi RNA! What are you going to do with me?

RNA: I will just transcribes or copies the code from you for I to become the messenger RNA or mRNA. DNA: Okay! Copy the code from me. Do I will zip myself back together? RNA: Yes, you do. (The RNA copies the code from the DNA and he becomes the mRNA. The DNA zip itself back together.) DORA: Hoooray! The mRNA is now formed! BOOTS: Yey! Weve made the RNA from DNA and becomes the mRNA! mRNA: Hello Dora and Boots! Im messenger RNA. Im the product in the process of TRANSCRIPTION of Protein Synthesis. So where are we going next? (*Music plays*) DORA: CELL. NUCLEUS. RIBOSOME. We went through the cell and over the nucleus. So next comes the (*Music plays*) ribosome. Right! Fasten your seat belt boots! We are going out the nucleus and moves to the cytoplasm towards the RIBOSOME! Hold on mRNA! BOOTS: Come on Dora! Lets go! (*Music plays*) DORA: Do you see the ribosome? mRNA: Oyeah! There it is! The ribosome! (Pointing to the ribosome) DORA: Come on! Bamunos! mRNA: Lets go to the ribosome! BOOTS: So the mRNA can be a protein! (*Music plays*) mRNA: Lets go fast to the ribosome! BOOTS: Here we go! (Dora, Boots and mRNA had reach the ribosome.) mRNA: Dora! Dora! Boots! Were here! Were now in the Ribosome! DORA: Yes, were here. It is the place where the actual synthesis of protein takes place! You are know in the process of translation. BOOTS: Hey Dora! What is translation?

DORA: It is the process of assembling protein molecules from information coded in mRNA. It is the last stage of protein synthesis! Our friend DNA will become a protein now! BOOTS: Excellent! (*Music Plays*) BOOTS: Dora! What are those things here in the ribosome? mRNA: Those are amino acids floating freely in the cytoplasm transported here by the tRNA. tRNA: Hello guys! I carry those amino acids here on the ribosome. I am a single strand of RNA which exist in 20 or more varieties. Each kind of me transport a specific amino acid to the ribosome. We, with our captured amino acids attach themselves to the longer messenger RNA which is found around the ribosome. (ACTION) DORA: Boots! Take a look of that! The amino acids line up side by side then an enzyme joins them together by forming peptide bonds. The product is a polypeptide chain. BOOTS: Are those proteins? DORA: Yes, Boots. That is our friend DNA. She is now a protein! BOOTS: WOW! DNA! DNA! Youre now a PROTEIN! PROTEIN: Hello Boots and Dora! Thank you! Thank you for your help! Finally! I am now a protein. I can now perfrom a variety of functions. Thanks for helping me to become a protein! (*WE DID IT*)
