[the
site
design]:
a. Navigation: site contains a clear navigation structure, as described in Dont Make
b. c. d. e.
Me Think and other course texts. Navigation should be clear and fulfill the users needs. Navigation should also somehow illustrate that the user is on the homepage. Grid: Vectors should be clear and straight. Nothing should break alignment unless its on purpose. Vectors should guide the readers eye. Clutter should be avoided. Color scheme: Site has a clear color scheme avoiding more than 3 colors. Color scheme should build the ethos of the site. User: the multiple users of the site have been considered in the design. What they want is readily accessible and what they dont need isnt there. Theme: Overall the sites design follows some kind of theme matching the businesses ethos. The choices you make as a designer should reflect the kind of business you are designing for.
2.
[the
solution
description]: Each websites homepage must briefly list the
problems of the original site and how those problems were solved in this new sites design. Choices A-E in number 1 above are described. Each description should QUOTE Dont Make Me Think or another course text at least twice in order to explain your choices. Dont quote randomly. It wont count
3.
[the
memo]:
Each group will respond with a one page memo that to another group,
giving three suggestions for improvement on each site design. This memo needs to be constructed according to the Kolin textbooks rules pp. 69-77.
4.
[the
package]:
Finally, each group must package all of these parts. Three homepages
with descriptions and the memo, in a report with 1. a general introduction which briefly explains the general goals of the project and what well be seeing (think abstract) and 2. A conclusion which explains what suggestions your team will be taking from the other group, what site (or combination of sites) you will be building, and where you will be going from here (how will you break down the labor for the rest of the project?).
