This project study would not have been possible without the untiring help and support of Dr. S.P.Singh (Professor, LBSIM), who not only served as our supervisor and mentor but also encouraged and challenged us throughout my academic program. He guided us through the entire process, never accepting anything less than our best efforts. We felt highly motivated and encouraged every time we held a meeting with Sir. Without his encouragement and guidance, this project would not have materialized. We take this opportunity to express our heartiest gratitude to Sir, who has been instrumental in the successful completion of our project. We are also thankful to Mr.A. K. Singh (Co-owner & General manager, Bhandari Forging and Alloy Casts Pvt. Ltd for providing first-hand information about his business. We would also like to thank our institute, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, for allowing us to undertake this project. A big thank you to all our teachers for their help and support at all times.

Executive Summary

The study concerned deals with an organization called Bhandari Forge & Alloy Cast Ltd. From the name itself, one can figure out the industry concerned and the type of work involved. This company is into its thirties and operates in the Sahibabad Industrial area. The study takes into consideration a wide range of factors ranging from idea conception to industry dynamics. Internal and external environments were studied in depth to identify various critical pointers. The environments include study of core competencies and critical success factors. Moreover, the mission and vision statements were constructed by the team based on the observations made. The importance of the study can be judged from the fact that not much research has taken place in the alloy manufacturing industry. Another important chapter in the study deals with financial health of the organization. Through this aspect, we tried to understand the organizations journey in monetary terms. Also, we tried to identify the areas where the company has done well. One chapter of the study deals with balanced scorecard which is a wonderful tool to carry out a multi- dimensional study of the organization. Here, a combination of perspectives viz. financial and customers were studied. Moreover, two more broad areas of Learning & growth and Internal business processes were studied. Overall, this study gives a bird eye view about the planning, operations, functioning and health of the organization.
