General Information
Wellesbourne Mountford Airfield is a small, 400 acre airport situated adjacent to the village of
Wellesbourne, Warwickshire. The airport is situated 3 miles east of Stratford-upon-Avon.
Wellesbourne Mountford Airfield has a CAA Ordinary Licence that allows flights for the public
transport of passengers or for flying instruction. The majority of the aircraft are small fixed wing
and rotary wing, mainly those of flying instruction and general aviation.

Departures
Departures are required to book out with ATC prior to departure. This is done by visiting the
tower rather than on the frequency so the best way to simulate this is by private message.
After starting engines, taxi clearance should be requested. At this point airfield information such
as runway in use and QFE/QNH will also be given.
When at the runway holding point and after completing before takeoff checks, request takeoff.
As this is an AFIS airfield, "takeoff at your discretion, wind 320 at 6" will be used. It is the pilots
responsibility to make sure the runway is clear before taking off, although takeoff is not normally
given when the runway is in use.
After departure aircraft normally remain on the frequency until leaving the ATZ (2 nm out) then
switch to an onward frequency. All aircraft are given the Barnsley Regional Pressure Setting. All
departures can contact Birmingham Radar on 118.050 for an ATOSCAS service after departure.

Arrivals
Inbound aircraft should be in contact by the ATZ boundary (2 nm radius). Anyone making
contact more than 2 nm away will be asked to report at the ATZ boundary. Aircraft will be given
airfield information (runway in use, QFE/QNH), traffic information and circuit direction.
Standard overhead joins are most commonly used, at 2000 ft but a direct join into the circuit can
be used if traffic permits.
If you are not number one in the circuit, you will be advised "one ahead, report final runway 36".
It is the pilots responsibility to ensure adequate separation and space to land after the proceeding
aircraft.

Noise Abatement
In an effort to minimise aircraft noise to residents of the nearby villages, noise abatement
procedures are in use for all aircraft using RWY 36 and 05, involving a right or left turn
respectively after departure to avoid overflying these noise sensitive areas.
Circuits
Fixed Wing
All fixed wing circuits operate at 1000 ft QFE, with the following directions:
RWY 36/05 – LH
RWY 18/23 - RH
Helicopter
All helicopter circuits follow a non-standard circuit from Heli Point W as indicated on the Noise
Abatement chart. Circuits are operated at 600 ft QFE, with the same directions as the fixed wing
circuits:
RWY 36 – LH
RWY 18 – RH
