March GEARBOX ASSEMBLY, LUBE GIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY - REWORK PLANNING INFORMATION: EFFECTIVITY: All 250-C20 Gearbox Assemblies prior to S/N CAG 31963. All 250~Cl8 Series Gearbox Assemblies prior to S/N CAG 23561. All 250-B17 Gearbox Assemblies prior to S/N CAG 60052. All 250-B15G Gearbox Assemblies prior to S/N CAG 50066. REASON:
18, 1974
To prevent overtorquing of the stud nuts that attach the lube oil filter housing cap. The cap is removed periodically in the field to service the oil filter element. With the engine installed in an airframe, it may be difficult to use a torque wrench. By reworking the housing and using new, shouldered studs, the possibility of overtorquing with resultant thread damage is prevented. The lube oil filter housing is reworked to accept new studs. The new studs increase the magnesium thread engagement for reduced stress. Also, the new studs provide a shoulder such that the threads cannot yield more than 0.010 before the shoulder bottoms under the cap.
DESCRIPTION:
INTERCHANGEABILITY: The new studs and reworked housing must be incor-J porated simultaneously. Revision No. 2 February 10, 1982
