Questionnaire Results In this task, I had to make a questionnaire for my target audience in order to get feedback from the kinds of people who would actually read Mixmag magazine. I had to get answers from 5 boys and 5 girls in order to get a balanced set of answers. The target audience will be people who are 16-25. This means that the cover and double page spread have to appeal to a young audience. The questions in my questionnaire are designed to get an honest response from these kinds of people. I will write out the results and say a little about them. Question 1 Are the pictures a good quality?

Yes No

For the first question, I wanted to know whether people thought pictures on the cover and double page spread were of a good quality. As you can see from this graph, of the ten people I asked, 8 people said they were good quality and only 2 people said that they werent. Interestingly, all 5 girls said that they were good photos while it was 2 boys who said that they werent good photos. This may be because the person in the photograph was male and the girls may have found him attractive, whereas with the boys they might have responded more favourably to a female photograph. In the future I may try and get both genders represented in the photographs in order to appeal to both girls and boys and eliminate bias. I personally didnt feel that the image on the cover

was of a good quality because I didnt think it fitted in with the style of the magazine. The reason for this is that it is blurred and the rest of the pictures arent. This makes the cover look messy whereas I wanted it to look cleaner and sophisticated in order to match the style of the magazine. Question 2 Does The Cover Fit Together Well?

10

Yes No

Everybody I asked Does the cover fit together well? said that it does. Underneath the question, I asked people why they thought this. People have given answers like Text doesnt cover image and that it has a good colour scheme. In the future, I will be sure to implement similar colour schemes and make sure the text doesnt cover the image because my target audience liked the presentation of my current work. I thought the cover image worked well with the colour scheme on the cover and you could clearly see the image because the writing wasnt over it. The only problem was that I was unhappy with the image but I have already talked about that in the previous question.

Question 3 Can You Read The Text Clearly?

10

Yes No

In this question, I got ten positive responses like I did in question 2, as everybody circled yes. I asked a wide array of different people and they all said yes so all of the target audience liked my design so I am on the right track. In the future, I will use the same style font and the same font size because my target audience liked the style of it. I felt that you could read text clearly because I chose certain colours (black and white) that would stand out against the background. I put boxes over some of the text because this helped it to make an impact. I also thought the font style I chose was easy to read because it was clear and it was a friendly and informal font style.

Question 4 Did you find the article interesting?

Yes No

For this question, I had 3 people say that the article was not interesting and the rest said it was. The people who said it wasnt interesting, said things like it being a little bit boring. This could either mean that they werent interested in the artist or that the writing itself was bad. It was mostly girls that said it was interesting so it seems that my article is more popular among females. This could have been because the interviewee was male (a female artist may have been more popular with boys) or that the girls were being polite. I was pleased that the vast majority of interviewees found my article interesting and the rest of them didnt give overwhelmingly negative reviews. It is difficult to please everyone with an article, because people have different tastes and interests but I tried to accommodate my target audience as best I could.

Questions 5 Do you think the colour scheme looks attractive?

10

Yes No

Again in this question, ten people said yes to this question. I had already gained comments about the colour scheme with people saying that they liked it and that it was good. I had researched a Mixmag magazine beforehand and tried to imitate a specific one. By using a similar colour scheme I had hoped to get the same effect of being bold and eye-catching. I was happy with the colour scheme overall. The colours I used were black, white, orange and red which would appeal to a younger audience because they are not boring colours and they are vibrant and stand out.

Question 6 How Far Does This Look Like Real Magazine?

4 6

Very Kind Of Not At All

In this question I asked people whether they thought my Mixmag and double Page Spread looked like they could be in an official Mixmag magazine. The options I gave were Very, Kind of and Not at all. As you can see from the chart, the majority of people said that it kind of looked like a real magazine and everybody else said that it looked very like a magazine. Nobody said it didnt look like a real magazine at all. I was pleased because everybody gave a positive response to the question although I would have preferred it if I had 100% very positive reaction. In the future I would take more care and attention with the photographs in order to make them look more professional. I would also attempt to have a more inclusive subject matter in order to appeal to both girls and boys.
