UDLC FINANCIAL GIVING REPORT 48weeksthrough November 25, 2012

$000 -YTD-$k-$k-

September, 2012

What comes after Black Friday, Saturday specials, and Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday?
prepare the way of the Lord, the Messiah, the hoped for Redeemer of the entire world for 4 Sundays! ( And the reason for the afore-mentioned shopping holidays. ) . The color is royal blue, on the altar and banners, a color of expectancy! In scripture, John the Baptist calls us to get ready, for God is about to do a great thing This is an intensified season for spiritual examination on our own response to suffering around us, and the plight of so many people caught in warfare and revolution, Syrians, Palestinians, Jews, Iraqis, Afghans refugeesand more. Plus, weve seen the devastation of Hurricane Sandy on our eastern shoresand on the list goes. The Advent or appearing of our Messiahcomes to turn the worlds destructive powers upside down and bring a reign of hope and peace and justice. Its made visible by our is by our generosity and work for justice now.

AND.right after this great line-up of high holy-days!...... Its INSTALLATION SUNDAY for Pastor Anderson--JANUARY 13, at 3pm at UDLC
When a new pastor is called to a congregation, they are installed into the office of pastor in their congregation by the Bishop of the synod, or his/her assistant. Due to such a busy schedule, Bishop Burkat could not be available until 5 months after Pastor Anderson arrived at UDLC! So we are planning a special service Sunday afternoon so that the pastors of our Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod can attend, (friends and neighbors too) and naturally our entire congregation is invited to be present for this historic and festive occasion! Keith has invited a good friend and colleague, Rev. Martin Malzahn, (formerly of New England Synod) to be guest preacher that afternoon. He is currently Asst. Chaplain at Columbia University, NYC. A team will be forming soon, to plan the service with Pastor Keith and theyll plan and organize the reception following. Save the date for this grand day!!! Have you ever been to an Installation before?! Nows a great chance!

Once again, UDLC members provided a great deal of food in the past weeks for the two cupboards we supply: St. John, Mayfair, and the Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard, Ambler. Not only did you provide a huge amount of canned and boxed items, but many items of clothing were donated for St. John; UDLC member John Brown is the courier for this cupboard. Items are taken to the local cupboard on Tuesdays. Please keep these needs in mind as you prepare for Christmas and the giving of gifts to family and friends. Add the food cupboards to your shopping list! Marriage Retreat 2013 Renewing our Promise March 1-3, 2013 We have secured facilities at the Inn at Jim Thorpe. Please plan ahead. Global Mission Gift Opportunities MILITARY CARE PACKAGES

UDLC will not mail care packages from November 30 to January 5. The reason for this is that Christmas is a time when many folks remember the deployed, and they are inundated with packages. Our ministry aims to fill the lean times. Here are some items that would be particularly welcome for the packages we send in November: extra Christmas cards for soldiers to send to loved ones at home, extra calendars, small Christmas decorations, gift wrap, hot chocolate, DVDs you are bored with, magazines, especially those like Sports Illustrated. Your support makes a real difference to our soldiers. They thank you. Sweet Justice Chocolate Beautiful Hand-beaded Jewelry & Ornaments made by our sisters in Tanzania enabling them to provide tin roofs for their homes. Hand painted gifts from El Salvadore Purchase a gift that shares His Presence with those in need. All Gift Items will be available for purchase: December 2, 9, & 16, after each of our 3 Worship Services, Church Lobby/Narthex. Cash & checks (payable to UDLC Global Mission) accepted for payment. ALL PROCEEDS GO DIRECTLY TO THOSE IN NEED OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN GODS GREAT GLOBAL FAMILY!! Please consider giving a gift that really makes a differencejob training to enable people living in poverty an opportunity to provide for their families; roofs for humble homes; food, clothing, medical care for those in great need. So many are served by the gifts you purchase! As we celebrate Gods greatest gift of all, Our Lord and Savior Jesus, may we too be gifts and shining witnesses to Gods love and grace for our beloved brothers and sisters in need!

Pledge Results Through November 25 (2nd week)

We had a good initial response through November 25 with 148 pledges received. We thank all those who responded so farand look to receive the rest of your commitments very soon! (by December 5th please ..so that Council can adopt an appropriate budget for 2013 at their December 12 meeting! Your commitments give us a guideline in our planning) Many members were able increase their giving for 2013 which is essential to meet the increased expenses expected. Good news also8 additional members signed up for Simply Giving(for info go to our websitewww.udlc.org and online giving box, or see Bruce Waechter)-- an easy way to manage your giving. Application forms are also available in the church lobby. We are still hoping to match last years total pledges of over 200 --- so at least 60 more responses are eagerly awaited ! Request! Even if you are already in Simply Giving or can not pledge for 2013, we would appreciate your completing a pledge form. Please put forms and pledges in the offering plate or mail to the church office. Wed love to have you make this a priority so we dont have to bug anyonewith follow-up calls, etc. We are especially thankful this holiday for everyones generous cooperation and support.

Statement from Council regarding Parking at UDLC

Upper Dublin Lutheran Church is a growing, vibrant part of the Upper Dublin and Ambler community. One of our growing pains we are experiencing is the amount of Parking we are able to provide to our worshipers on Sunday morning and for large church events. One current and dangerous practice among churchgoers has been to park along Susquehanna Road when parking becomes tight. The township and the church council have taken note of this and would like to encourage all parishners to refrain from this dangerous practice. To help with parking congestion during high traffic times, UDLC council and staff have made concerted effort to park further away from the church. We hope this short term remedy will open 10-15 more highly desirable slots. Please be patient as council contemplates and plans for our current and future needs for parking, and in the meantime please avoid parking along Susquehanna Road..
