What comes after Black Friday, Saturday specials, and Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday?
prepare the way of the Lord, the Messiah, the hoped for Redeemer of the entire world for 4 Sundays! ( And the reason for the afore-mentioned shopping holidays. ) . The color is royal blue, on the altar and banners, a color of expectancy! In scripture, John the Baptist calls us to get ready, for God is about to do a great thing This is an intensified season for spiritual examination on our own response to suffering around us, and the plight of so many people caught in warfare and revolution, Syrians, Palestinians, Jews, Iraqis, Afghans refugeesand more. Plus, weve seen the devastation of Hurricane Sandy on our eastern shoresand on the list goes. The Advent or appearing of our Messiahcomes to turn the worlds destructive powers upside down and bring a reign of hope and peace and justice. Its made visible by our is by our generosity and work for justice now.

AND.right after this great line-up of high holy-days!...... Its INSTALLATION SUNDAY for Pastor Anderson--JANUARY 13, at 3pm at UDLC
When a new pastor is called to a congregation, they are installed into the office of pastor in their congregation by the Bishop of the synod, or his/her assistant. Due to such a busy schedule, Bishop Burkat could not be available until 5 months after Pastor Anderson arrived at UDLC! So we are planning a special service Sunday afternoon so that the pastors of our Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod can attend, (friends and neighbors too) and naturally our entire congregation is invited to be present for this historic and festive occasion! Keith has invited a good friend and colleague, Rev. Martin Malzahn, (formerly of New England Synod) to be guest preacher that afternoon. He is currently Asst. Chaplain at Columbia University, NYC. A team will be forming soon, to plan the service with Pastor Keith and theyll plan and organize the reception following. Save the date for this grand day!!! Have you ever been to an Installation before?! Nows a great chance!

Once again, UDLC members provided a great deal of food in the past weeks for the two cupboards we supply: St. John, Mayfair, and the Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard, Ambler. Not only did you provide a huge amount of canned and boxed items, but many items of clothing were donated for St. John; UDLC member John Brown is the courier for this cupboard. Items are taken to the local cupboard on Tuesdays. Please keep these needs in mind as you prepare for Christmas and the giving of gifts to family and friends.
