DIVE AND RESCUE EDUCTORS INC 2112 BELLE CHASSE HWY #11-296 GRETNA, LA. 70056 504-382-1097 PSDA Rescue Swimmer Program 1 & 2 The Rescue Swimmer program is a 2 day, 16 hour program designed to help first responding services initiate immediate life-saving efforts to individuals in distress in the water. Each day is performance based. Rescue Swimmer 1 class is an 8 hour, performance driven class. Minimum standards: 18 years old Completed Medical Questionnaire Positive Floatation Device required (available for rent) Basic snorkeling ability using mask, snorkel, fins, gloves (weights not allowed at this level of training) Watermanship Assessment Swim 50 yards, any stroke or combination of stokes without stopping with a PFD on Float on the surface with airway protected for 10 minutes Tread water for 10 minutes with PFD on. Last 5 minutes, student is required to remove and replace PFD. Topics Required Include: Shallow Water Blackout (prevention through education) Marine and Aquatic Life Rescue Swimmer Safety Open Water Practical Experience Required Text: PSDA & WR Rescue Swimmer I & II Manual Price: $199.00 per person. 6 person minimum Mask Boots Equipment available for sale or Snorkel Weights/belt or rental. Rescue Swimmer 2: class is a 8 hour, performance driven class. Minimum standards: 18 years old Completed Medical Questionnaire Snorkeling vest required Basic snorkeling ability using mask, snorkel, fins, gloves, weights/belt Watermanship Assessment Swim 150 yards, any stroke or combination of stokes without stopping Swim underwater 25 yards Float or tread water 10 minutes. Last 2 minutes with hand out of the water. Retrieve 10 pounds from water to deep to stand in Topics Required Include: Shallow Water Blackout Basic Physics of skin diving Safe Snorkeling Buddy System Must demonstrate knowledge and proper use of the snorkeling vest Must demonstrate ability to skin dive Open Water Practical Experience Required Text: PSDA & WR Rescue Swimmer I & II Manual Equipment: Each student will need mask, snorkel, fins, boots, weights, weight belt, PFD or swimmer vest.
