Filipinos are known for becoming hard working folks. They dedicate their time in working and they give the best that they could in order to get their job done. This is because they like to provide their loved ones or even on their own a good life. which means, they can pay their charges, provide their basic needs, and have some extra cash to finance other actions. They long for nothing but to be able to be a good supplier.
Honesty
Being a hard-working people, the Filipinos are also honest. In general, they would prefer to work hard for an honest days pay than to find an easier way like stealing or cheating. In our own country, Filipinos have displayed honesty in various forms, may it be from a taxi driver returning a dropped phone or wallet. Filipinos would choose to do the right thing.
Religious
The Philippines is one the most religious countries in world, particularly in Catholicism and Islam. Families would encourage and strengthen the values of their children and would at least have one day a week for worship and at the same time strengthening family ties.
Resiliency
The Philippines is a hotspot for disasters, natural and otherwise. Couple that with poverty, and one would think that Filipinos have the most reason for being a depressed people. However, we have demonstrated time and again that Filipinos can bounce back from a tragedy, emerging stronger and better than before. In the middle of a disaster, Filipinos can still manage to smile and be hopeful that the next morning brings new hope.
Hospitable
When we have people visit our homes, we always welcome them with smiles, conversation and food. Obedient and dutiful In our culture, we always respect and follow what our parents and adults advise us to do. Not talking back, and trusting the adults around us has always been a part of who we are.
Respectful
From the mano, to saying po and opo to our elders, these words that are a part of our language show how we respect people.
Helpful
It is expected that we help out in the house and offer help to siblings, friends and relatives when we can. That is why in times of calamities or disaster, Filipinos are mostly helpful to one another.
Cheerful
Because weve been through a lot of trials in our history, Filipinos have learned not to be depressed. Rather, we find a joke and try to have fun even during times of difficulty. Always smiling and never forget to have a goodlaugh amidst the problems and hardships that come their ways.
Passionately Romantic
They are ardent in love as they are fierce in battle. They are bornpoets, musicians and artists.
Brave
They valiantlyresisted the Spanish, American and Japanese invaders of their nativeland. They rank among the bravest people of the world. Filipinocourage has been proven in the Battle of Mactan (1521), in the Battleof Tirad Pass (1899), in the battle of Bataan, Corregidor, BessangPass during World War II, and in many other battlefields.
Gratitude
Another sterling trait of the Filipinos. They aregrateful to those who have granted them favors or who are good tothem. Their high sense of gratitude is expressed in the phrase Utangnaloob (debt of honor).
Cooperative
They value the virtue of helping each otherand other people. They cherish the ancestral trait of bayanihan, whichmeans cooperation. In rural areas, when a man is building, repairingor transferring a house to another place, the neighbors come to help.
We have shown the world that by working together as a nation, we have what it takes to recover from a bad situation. This is something that all of us should be proud of, no matter where in the world we are. With all of these good traits (and more!), one would really be proud to say, I am a Filipino.
