My journeyBefore

Through my education, I have seen various touch points that have shaped and influenced my perspectives on leadership. Fundamentally I have experienced my role as a leader as one who tries to respect, appreciate and puts into action a vision for a future that inspires others to join in (at least to a point.). There are some fundamental things that have driven my beliefs about leadership as being a process of transformation and improvement. Aung S.S. Kyi- talked about developing the human mentality. personal development, the freedom of persons fulfilling their potential in the context of the values, is one of the forms of development. Society that will have/has public affluence that could provide people with the necessary support that would allow them to grow During this class, I had learnt that valuing each and every person in the group. The dialogue paper and other courses group work had made me realize that until everyone is present, a decision cannot be finalized (Even though we had a facilitator in the group.) This shows that even before. And also what you think is not so different from the next person , so one should speak up and say what is in your mind. Throughout my life, I have had calmness., patient and even appreciated the opinions of others to make life simple. I have been in a group where the leader so some people as not being important and that does not accept or consider their voices in the group and most of the time group ends up failing. Giving voice to people, make them feel valued and respected, hence boosting their confident to work harder thus, becoming cohesive in the team. This class has taught me that the various little things we do not pay attention o are the things that make us successful leaders. Leadership is a process, it is an active learning process where we learn to change, transform and transcend ourselves. All the guests who came to our class, all talked about working with people, which is Stephen coveys 7th qualities of high successful leaders that is to synergize. We always say we work better when we work alone. Yes it depends, if it is about a simple task like writing about who you thing a leader is? Individual could be the best option. But when it comes to social issues and finding ways of solving it, group work helps, so that more ideas will be generated that when you do it alone. Im one person who wants to see things done in a moral and selfless manner. Trying to be known and popular is not my kind of life, but being able to help people find who they really are and joining them to find those things makes me feel better. My community service at Village Of Hope has changed my life (a bit) about the way I saw and related to the less privilege in the society. It was a place where everyone irrespective of their religion, whether orphan or not, saw each one as equally important as themselves. It was a place where little love and care (not only about financial) made them happy. As madam ayikwei, Navy Lieutenant said, the little things make us happy. These children did not need any money, bigger

house, cars and material staff to be able to be happy like the privileged ones in the society. Love and care is the core tool for leadership. Sung su kyi , human development is. The have nots in the society do not want to be pitied by providing them with material support but rather a sustaining tool that will help them be a better person than they were before. Listening to the cries of the people and providing solution to those cries shows you care. Empowering, equipping them with the tools needed for the working world, humbleness makes fiduciary relationship to be built between you and the people you want to serve by leading. All these lead to trust. Trust should be the focus of every leader; this is because it is through trust that your vision could be realized and the people protected and improving the lives of the people.

After the service, I have learnt to appreciate the little things that I have, and also know who am i. I had to meditate for days before; I could come up with the changes I have to do to be a better person. This transformation is painful, difficult but makes you a better person and also makes some people happy. For now and the future, Leadership is a continuous process of improvement. Through this experience, guests and discussions, I have learnt that life is not about pleasing people, becoming famous and popular to be able to achieve your needs. Making a positive change in the lives of people in your own small way makes a greater difference. Also, leadership is always meddling in the lives of people and our self. This is because, in as much as you want to help people, you need to know your strengths and weaknesses so that you can find ways of turning them into strengths so that you can help the people you want to serve. This is very transformational. For example, socializing is one of my weaknesses. So to get closer to the children and people of Village Of Hope, I had to let a go of this anti-social attitude (just a little) to be able to connect with the people. This has being a major change in my life, but I loved it because I was able to know how to relate to the children I was very close to. As a person who wants to see children happy, I had to know what made them behave the way they do. So the transformation was a good tool in helping the kids share with me their concerns. This is what leadership is all about, trying to listen to the voices of the people and trying to give a helping hand to those concerns, hence, showing that you are concern. This is life meddling. Now, these experiences and reflections from this class has provided me with discipline, ability to work in teams, accepts people views and most of all caring more by equally respecting everybodys opinions. As I said earlier, leadership is a process of improvement and this class has equipped me with some basic skills that can help improve my leadership skills or transcend in life.

Before this sem started, I had planned to do a lot of things. I had decisded todo things that I wasnot able to ry them or do last sem. I took his leadership 4 course without having a fair idea about what was going to be taught. I would always seen leadership as equipping people to be able to do accomplish their goal.

During : the visualizing of arts brought about making you see what leadership is all about in your understanding. To me , I think this art presentation boost your morale, becaue, they is no right or wrong, but an environment where you say what you think. The start of During After Then after
