Increasingly, these groups are beginning to realize the financial benefit of hiring a licensed auctioneer to conduct their auction, especially an auctioneer who has had training and has a good reputation for conducting benefit auctions. a silent auction. The friendliest, most outgoing guy in the group was usually asked to auction off the best ones in a Live Auction. Sometimes it can be a good fit. The money organizations spend to secure the services of a professional auctioneer is usually far exceeded by the additional amount of money that he or she is able to generate. In other words, a good benefit auctioneer is easily worth what they charge to conduct the event. And while some auctioneers charge for their services, it is not uncommon for a licensed auctioneer to do a

newcomers and veterans alike stand up to be judged on their bid calling skills in an attempt to be called the best. It is a chance to represent their state at the International Auctioneers conference and vie with other state champions for the honorable recognition as the World Champion Auctioneer. The Kentucky Auctioneers Association recently selected their Auctioneering Champion at their 56th Annual Convention held in Bowling, Green Kentucky. Narrowing their choice from eight contestants in the Professional Division, the Associations Auctioneering Championship for 2013 belonged to Marcus Landers. Marcus is a member of the very skilled professional auction team at Mills Real Estate and Auction Company in Scottsville, Kentucky. Apprenticing with Veteran Auctioneer Russell Mills, Marcus assisted with many of the tasks that is required to put on their highly popular Farm Equipment Auctions which are held several times a year at the Mills Auction Center. Marcus began working with us in 2004 during his Senior year in High School. He is a very talented auctioneer and we feel he has a bright future in the business. said his mentor, Russell Mills. This high praise is coming from a guy who himself represented the State of Kentucky as the Auctioneer of the Year in 2004. So the next time the uneasy feelings of conquering public speaking start to creep into your mind as you prepare yourself to address your group, just remember Marcus and the hundreds of men and women like him. See you at the Auction!

Rodriguez said in a statement through public relations firm Sitrick and Co. that he ordered numerous copies of the ring and was unaware Sucart was selling his. Rodriguez did not say how many were made, or whether he paid for them himself. Yankees spokesman Jason Latimer did not respond to an e- mail seeking comment about the teams policy regarding extra rings. Sucart is banned by baseball from the Yankees clubhouse, charter flights and other team-related activities, MLB spokesman Pat Courtney said in an email. A three-time American League Most Valuable Player, Rodriguez in 2009 said he used performance-enhancing drugs as a member of the Texas Rangers prior to joining the Yankees. He said Sucart helped him obtain and inject the drugs. The auction, which runs until April 5, also includes a 1909 Honus Wagner card that the National Baseball Hall of Fame calls the sports most famous collectible. That card could sell for over $2.3 million, which would be a record for a baseball card at public auction.

Jersey and stick from Miracle On Ice sells for more than $900K
The jersey worn by hockey great Mike Eruzione in the U.S. Miracle on Ice victory over the Soviet Union at the 1980 Winter Olympics was auctioned for almost $660,000 Saturday, though surprising strong interest in the stick he used to score the winning goal and his gold medal game jersey pushed the overall sale to more than $1.3 million. Spirited bidding drove the value of the hockey stick to $262,900, more than five times the $50,000 it was expected to go for as a 9-year-old boy and his father outbid others, earning a high-five slap and a hug for the youth from Eruzione himself. Gloves he wore throughout the Olympic tournament sold for $53,775, more than 10 times their pre-auction estimates. The blue jersey the teams captain wore to win the gold against Finland fetched $286,800. Even his warm-up suit sold for $26,290 while his red pants went for $28,680. As expected, the No. 21 white jersey worn during the epic come-frombehind 4-3 victory over the Soviets scored highest, rising to finish at $657,250 during several rounds of bidding. The outcome in Lake Placid, N.Y., was surprising because the U.S. team was largely made up of amateurs playing against a Soviet team of professionals widely considered unbeatable. The 33rd anniversary of the historic game was Friday. Eruzione, 58, sold the Olympic items to benefit his three adult children and a grandson, along with the Winthrop Foundation, which finances charities in his hometown of Winthrop, Mass., just outside Boston. I thought this would be a great little nest egg for them for their future with their kids, he said. He added that the memorabilia had remained in his USA hockey bag in the attic of his home since the historic Olympic victories. Still, he kept one treasure. As long as Im alive, the gold medal wont be sold,
