Rohit left 5 minutes later than the scheduled time and in order to reach his school 2Km away from his house in time, he has to increase his speed by 2 Km / Hr from his usual speed. a) Find his usual speed. b) What mathematical concept is used in this question? c) By increasing speed which value is depicted by Rohit? ( Punctuality, time management, obedience) 2. A cottage industry in a village produces a certain number of pottery articles in a day. It was observed on a particular day that the cost of each article in rupees was 3 more than twice the number of articles produced on that day. Some students went to the industry as field trip to promote hand made articles. They collected Rs 90 from all the students to buy pottery articles and found that the total cost of production on that day was the same. a) Find the number of articles produced and the cost of each article. b) What value is depicted by the students? ( appreciating the hand made things, helping to promote cottage industry)

ARITHMETIC PROGRESSION 1) In a school, students thought of planting trees in and around the school to reduce air pollution. It was decided that the number of trees that each section of each class will plant be the same as the class in which they are studying. There are three sections of each class and there are 12 classes. At the end of this programme, the principal found that there are only 230 plants. a) Find the difference in number of plants planted? APPLICATION OF TRIGONOMETRY: 1. Amit has to construct a tall tower in such a way that the angle of elevation of the top of the tower from a point 100 m away from the base of the tower should be 60. After building the tower it was found that the angle of elevation is only 30. a) What height should be increased? b) Amit accepts his fault and does the work without charging extra. What value he depicts? (honesty, sincerity) 2. A contractor plans to install two slides for the children to play in a park. For the children below the age of 5 years she prefers to have a slide whose top height is 1.5m and is inclined at an angle of 30 to the ground. Foe elder children she wants to have a steep slide of height 3m and inclined at an angle of 60 to the ground a) What should be the length of the slide in each case? b) What value the contractor depicts? COORDINATE GEOMETRY 1) There are two paths to reach school from your home. Path A passes through points P, Q and R whose coordinates are (1,-1), (5, 2) and (9,5) respectively. Path B passes through points L, M and N whose coordinates are (0,-1), (3, 2) and (7, 6) respectively. a) Which is the best path? and why? provided speed of walking is same. b) By following the best path which value do you practice? To help them in their work a rope of 10m length was tied from the edge of the circular dome to a pole tangentially which is 26 m from the Centre of the dome. a) What is the radius of the circular dome? b) What values are imbibed by the students in this initiative?

AREAS RELATED TO CIRCLES: 1. Ramu has a lawn in one corner of his house in the shape shown in the figure (shaded area). The corner of the house is the center of the sector. He has installed a sprinkler system to water his lawn, with the sprinkler head located at the center, instead of using a hose pipe. The central angle of the sector is 216 and the inner and outer radii are 2m and 5m respectively. (a) Find the area of the lawn to be watered. (b) Comment about the method selected by Ramu to water his lawn.(water conservation, water is a Precious resource)

2. To expand its business, a company wants to buy agricultural land from farmers in the shape of a right triangle ABC as shown in the figure. 1. An ice cream seller has two types of ice cream container in the form of cylindrical shape and a cone with hemi-spherical base. Both have same height of 7 cm and same diameter of 7 cm. The cost of container is same but the seller decides to sell ice cream in cylindrical containers. (i) Calculate the volume of the both containers. (ii) Which value is depicted by the seller? 2. A farmer wants to dig a well either in the form of cuboid of dimensions (1m x 1m x 7m) or in the form of cylinder of diameter 1 meter and radius 7m. The rate to dig the well is Rs. 50/m3.
