REPORT OF BENGKEL MULTIMEDIA KREATIF By WOO JUN MEI A138555

Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FTSM) had organised a Bengkel Multimedia Kreatif during the minggu mesra fakulti teknologi & sains maklumat (MMFTSM) on 26 February 2013. This bengkel begin at 2.30pm until 4.30pm in Dewan Multimedia. There are two presenter come from different company were talk in that bengkel. They are Mohd Aziz Mohd Noor and Ahmad Razuri Roseli. The first presentor, Mohd Aziz Mohd Noor is a senior manager in Multi Media Synergy Corporation. This is a learning technology company which established to pursue the MSC Smart School Project. It was formed from the synergy of e-learning professionals that posses experience and expertise in the field of courseware design, instructional design, media creation, content development, project management and consultancy. According to Mohd Aziz Mohd Noor, they provide courseware development services which providing end-to-end e- learning solution to the education and non-education market. Some of the multimedia content learning objects they developed are mathematics courseware, science courseware, and also agama courseware. These contents either available as off-the-shelf products or turnkey solutions developed and customized based on customers requirements. However, their products are targeted for childrens learning between the age-group of pre-school, primary and secondary school. Besides that, for the fresh graduates to join into this industry, they should have known many about the software and applications that used to produce the courseware. For example, graduates must have the knowledge of using flash, Photoshop and illustrator and able to add in creative element to produce a good quality learning applications. Next, experience is important in this industry. A practical is much important than a theory. It is good as the graduates can involve in a project when training. Because the graduate can learn many skills from the project as he is guided by a senior. The second presenter, Ahmad Razuri Roseli is an assistant art director from Les Copaque Production Sdn. Bhd. He said that Les Copaque Production Sdn. Bhd. was incorporated in December 2005 to spearhead Malaysias animation industry and providing opportunities for the local graduates to showcase their talent. They are specializing in producing high quality 3D animation with local

images but have global appeal. Their main project, which is a 3D animation film title Geng: The Adventure Begins was completed by May 2008 and it is Malaysias first 3D animation film. Most of the members in Les Copaque Production are trained to be multitasking and work in a team. They always make sure the production quality is up to the standard and most important delivered in time. At Les Copaque Production, they manage the animation processes into 3 major departments which is animation, art and story house. The animation department is much like puppeteers. They blocking the characters from pose to pose, finalise animation and model their facial expression. Every characters movement are made as natural as possible like they were alive. While in the art department, they will first determine the overall look and feel of the animation. After that, they design and sketch the characters and background of the animation. All of these are in 2D visual. Next, its past to 3D modeling group to sculpt the shapes into the characters to make it 3D. They also model all the clothes and props into the characters. After all the characters and props ready, the render artist will put color into every things and set up the lighting according to the plot development. After everything are rendered, it will gather and combined into final version by the compositors. The compositors will enhance the color of the scene and add in special effect to make the animation look more real. Besides animation, this department also produced games such as upin ipin dash. In the story house, they need to do script and idea development. This is the first stage to produce an animation. They will add in moral values into the stories and make the stories exiting to watch. After done the script, the audio team will record voice, produce sound effect and background music. Those audio effect dress up the animation. Next is the layout and storyboard team. They planning every shot for the animation process. The shot planning includes camera angles, timing and continuity.
