Thankful for Deacons Deacons hold a special place in the work of the church, as they are special servants who help keep various ministries going strong. Take the time to teach your children what deacons actually do (the word translated deacon means servant), then have them write a thank you card to one (or more) of our 21 deacons. It will probably mean more to a younger child if he or she hand-delivers the card or note.
