COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES SPEECH COMMUNICATION 1
1.0 Course Description This course covers the basic principles of effective speech communication such as pronunciation, articulation, enunciation, intonation and vocal flexibility; it also includes theories, mechanics, and techniques of speech composition and delivery with emphasis on practical speaking experiences and awareness of audience psychology that will be used in any varied speech situations. 2.0 Course Objectives At the end of the term, the students should be able to: 1. Express ideas, feelings, and emotions clearly and effectively. 2. Understand the major concepts concerning speech communication. 3. Gain access to a range of communication skills. 4. Participate in and enjoy various oral communication activities through effective listening and speaking. 5. Establish the habit of distinct articulation and the use of well-modulated, conversational and natural tone in oral expression. 3.0 Course Requirements a. b. c. d. e. The students should be able to familiarize themselves to the different speech terms and be able to apply them to speech situations.

Specific Objectives The students should be able familiarize themselves to the different purpose and function of speech & be able to employ proper language, speech development and delivery in achieving the purpose of their speech.
