philosophers, Arthur Schopenhauer and Friedrich Nietzsche, and in his writing often
explored the psychology of the creative artist.
Thomas Mann himself started writing at the early age, and after series of short stories at
the age 22 he started writing the novel Buddenbrooks, trying to outdo the success of his
eldest brother Henrich Mann who already achieved a literary status. The novel was
completed three years later for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in
1929.
“The Infant Prodigy” is a remarkable depiction of a young pianist’s performance in front
of the audience with loud applauds and mixed thoughts and emotions.
