People looking to deepen their communication with God should look no further than Marko Rupniks guide to the Ignation practice of the examen. Readers are guided through this daily examination of conscience by the theological foundations of its practice. Rupnik beautifully illustrates this practices ability to be a spiritual act of prayer and discernment.
ENDoRSEmENtS
Much of our world rushes along impulsively. We are often so frenetic that we seem out of breath. For Rupnik, whose previous titles include Discernment: Acquiring the Heart of God, this human fraility invites us to relearn and remember the practice of the examen of conscience, for which he presents practical insights for daily living. George A. Aschenbrenner, SJ, author of Stretched for Greater Glory: What to Expect from the Spiritual Exercises Father Rupnik helps us appreciate memory for the profound gift it is, as a means for encountering both our triune God and our own selves as created, loved, and sent by Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Dennis Hamm, SJ, professor of Theology, Creighton University
