In the past few months, so many prominent people and important entities, here in the US, have been advocating for the legalization and regulation of some drugs, such as Marijuana, so crime and the moneymaking status quo that has been created due to their prohibition could be reduced. The actual impact on allowing people get access to the most dangerous drugs without any legal punishment is an issue that must be regarded seriously, since society is already overwhelmed by the great number of lives that are lost each and every day. A general legalization of any drug in the US would deteriorate considerably the health of the American people, would have a much bigger fiscal deficit in the nation, and would increase criminality to unthinkable levels. It is scientifically proved that drug abuse can have impacts on brain development in younger users. Smoking marijuana can cause respiratory issues, just like long-term alcohol consumption is linked with a host of cardiovascular and nervous system problems, not to mention cirrhosis.
