Summary of responsibilities: The primary responsibilities for this position are 1) to plan and achieve membership recruitment, engagement and retention goals, 2) to create and implement a comprehensive marketing and communication plan and, 3) Act as the day-to-day supervisor of the National office and back up for administrative functions. Specific Responsibilities include: I. Membership Recruitment and Retention Manages and implements the marketing and data strategy to recruit and retain members. Includes managing relationships with internal and external service providers to ensure the highest level of service. Analyzes all recruitment and retention reports to develop campaigns and track results. Manages data integrity program to ensure: membership data are reviewed periodically to ensure accuracy; lists supplied by members are cross-referenced with organizations data base for prospective members; and statistical reports are generated to analyze and compare each years results. Providing technical support and implements communication and marketing strategies for utilizing the member database to reach all program and organizational goals. Tracks all points of contact with memberships though communication tools, financial systems and other to ensure regular communication, memberships are billed appropriately and members receive excellent customer service. Serves as primary manager of membership data as it relates to the database consolidation and customer relationship management to ensure the technology helps us reach our goals with recruitment and retention activities. Communicates membership benefits, programs, and services to members and prospects resulting in increased recruitment and retention.

II. General Marketing and Communications Create comprehensive marketing and communications strategy for NAJA programs, events, and initiatives. Including press and photo releases, feature articles, scripts, editorials and promotional pieces. Draft press releases for NAJA leadership, overseeing prep of staff and volunteers for interviews with thepress, and all aspects of any press 1

conferences. Provides oversight of the development and maintenance of the associations website and other electronic communications technology ensuring accurate and timely information. Act as editor of the NAJA newsletters (printed and electronic) and supervise all outside vendors/staff in its preparation. Identify new subscribers and potential market segments to increase NAJAs visibility and membership.

II. Additional Duties: Assists Executive Director in preparing annual budget and in planning organizational activities. Support and supervise day-to-day operations of National office, As needed, provide administrative support, answering phone, faxing, filing, collect, sort and drop off mail. As needed, provide light bookkeeping, reconciling, e-transactions, credit cards and monthly bank statements and serve as main contact for vendors. As needed, provides assistance for programs such as scholarship, media awards and national convention. Travel to special events, board meetings, and other programs as requested. Supports the overall goals of the organization by performing duties as assigned.

P o s it io n R e q u ir e m e n t s : Bachelor degree in Business Administration, English, Communications, Journalism or Marketing preferred. Experience in association membership marketing, database management, and budgeting. Ability to write and edit promotional copy and business correspondence. Proven experience in marketing, direct mail, printing production, statistical analysis. Ability to coordinate and administer multi-faceted programs and projects. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and work independently, efficiently under deadline. Excellent, articulate, personable and diplomatic customer service skills. Possess a positive, team-player attitude. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as MacPro. Proven project management skills.
