By Kazi Md. Elias Introduction: Bangladesh is now under challenge of the 21st century's global business environment mspecially in the arena of Ready Made Garment (RMG) sectors. It is a matter of great pleasure that the 80% (Including Woven & Knitwear) of the country's export is from RMG sector although Bangladesh is a land of agriculture but RMG sector is going to be the main drivers of national economy in future. The achievement of country's 80% export from RMG need to increase more by continuous and continual improvement and the journey of "ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E)-General Requirements for the

GO

competence of testing and calibration laboratories" starts from here. "Quality" is a vital issue to make dreams into reality. The overall quality of products starting from raw material to finished stage need to comply with many requirements a series of test physical, chemical, analytical etc. ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E) can play a accredited pioneer textile role testing here.

Many organizations to provide ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E) such as A2LA (American Association for Laboratory Accreditation), ANSI (American National Standards Institute), NATA ( National Association of Testing Authority),APLAC (Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation), ILAC

(International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation), UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service), NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories), BAB (Bangladesh Accreditation Board).

There are several companies in Bangladesh at present those

have been assessed and accredited in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E). A part of ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E) Certified PHYSICAL LAB

A part of ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E) Certified CHEMICAL LAB Potential Impact of ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E) on RMG (Ready Made Garment) sector in Bangladesh: In order to keep continuity consistent quality to be maintained as well as further improvement is required. For shipping garments a lot of tests like physical tests, chemical tests, colorfastness tests, analytical tests etc. are required to be performed which is expensive. An independent textile testing laboratory is needed for the Garment industry and Composite textiles. They may be of three categories such as: 1. Open to All: It means that the laboratory is fully commercial. 2. Open (Partial): It means that the laboratory is not fully commercial. 3. In house: It means that the laboratory is for in house test purpose only.

ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E) covers all the three category of laboratories mentioned above. For all the three category of laboratories, accreditation must be taken in accordance with PopularSPORTS NOTESTRADE NOTES the

17025:2005(E).

For any sector, once the success achieved, it goes without saying that it is more difficult to keep continuity of the

achievement. Let us join in the procession with the banner "No Compromise with Quality" and not only the quality but Accredited Quality through ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E).

Time is not far away from us and need to go ahead with the new idea and innovative thinking on how to sustain and what further improvement can be done for the RMG sector. Bangladesh is passing the hard days of completion in terms of RMG Exports and the coming days would be more tougher to sustain as because the post MFA ( Multi-Fiber Agreement, phased out in 2005 ) situation is chasing Bangladesh Continuously. Bangladesh's accession to WTO (World Trade Organization) is a golden opportunity in international business but at the same time threat & panic is there on the other side due to open market competition phenomenon. Now the decision lies with the honourable factory owners or industrialists to come to a conclusion and this is required for the national economic growth of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Accreditation Board & ISO/IEC 17025:2005 (E): It is good news for all of us that in near future laboratories, inspection bodies, Certification Company would be accredited by BAB in stead of doing the same job by overseas certification bodies. The BAB offers different types of conformity assessment bodies; laboratories, certification and inspection bodies in accordance with the internationally accepted principles. BAB had obtained the associate membership of the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC) in 2007, Associate membership of Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (PAC) in 2011 and got affiliate membership of International Laboratory Accreditation

Cooperation (ILAC) in 2010. BAB will pursue signatory to ILAC and APLAC MRA as well as PAC and IAF MRAs.

Conclusion: Considering all the points discussed above, it is obious say that the importance of the accreditation in accordance with the standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005(E) had been proved as well as the impact of this worldwide standard to textiles and RMG sector is understandable now. The main theme of this article is to build awareness among the honourable owners of the Textiles and RMG to play a vital role from the accreditation viewpoint for the greater interest of the national economy of Bangladesh as well as for the business benefit of their respective RMG and the Textile Sectors.
