yuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnmqwertyui No man can possibly know what life means, what the
world means, until he has a child and loves it… and

“Alibugha”

then the whole universe changes and nothing will ever again seem
exactly as it seemed before.
- Lafcadio Hearn

The musical, ‘Aligbugha’, is a re-enaction of the well-known parable, ‘The Prodigal
Son’. Conservative, but superbly talented actors each played a role in the set, the best
actors covering the leading characters – of a father and two sons.

The plot surrounds the life of a young man, Eddie, and the effect of his decisions and
actions to the people surrounding him. He plays the role of the ‘Prodigal Son’ - being rash in

klzxcvbnmqwertyuiopasdfghjklz
his decisions, being disobedient, and being immature and childish. Eddie believed he could
do anything and saw himself higher than his farmer of a brother and his fellow mamamayan,
since he was able to finish study in Metro Manila. He went back to his family in the province
for only a short while just to take his inheritance from his father, as he thought that his

dream and will alone could take him to great heights. The years passed and the money that
his father gave him was gone with the wind. He was together with a woman with a
demented past and a child in her womb, and yet he loved her unconditionally… This proves
that even a man who is in the wrong could still be kind. He worked hard for his family, even

bnmqwertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbn
if it meant that he would be working with pigs. Still, no matter how he tried, his life was still
at the bottom… This shows that a life without God would still not make you feel peace, no
matter how much you strive at it.

The father, symbolizing God’s love, gave even more than what Eddie deserved. The
way he sat beside the window everyday as he awaited for Eddie’s return, the way he loved
the two brothers… He was an epitome of unconditional love. After fourteen years of waiting,

wertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnmqwer
he did not give up on Eddie and even welcomed him with open arms though he came home
with only tattered clothes and a little girl who’s not even her daughter. It shows that God is
peace, and would continue to forgive no matter how undignified a person already is.

The brother, meanwhile, is jealous for the father’s love. Even though he worked hard
and did his best, it seems that his father only loved Eddie… this is why the other parable,
‘The Lost Sheep’, was also mentioned in the play. Even if he was already at peace when he
had an encounter with his father, he could not help feeling angry when his brother came

opasdfghjklzxcvbnmqwertyuiopa
home without anything to show them and yet his father welcomed him with open arms. In
the end, though, he realizes why the father is so adamant on his ‘lost’ brother, thus the
mention of the lost sheep.

All in all, the play was a big success. It touched my heart, for sure. Related to the
religion or not, the story itself is beautiful enough for one person to cry on. It was not an
overall serious play – it actually had some pints of humour in the story. It was well-acted,

ghjklzxcvbnmqwertyuiopasdfghj
well-written, and well-directed. I give 5 stars to this play, as it touches the mind and soul of a
person.
