Loving and Longing for Gods Dwelling Places

None of us can counterfeit our cravings. If you put your finger on the pulse of your desires, you will soon discover that where your heart is, there your treasures will be invested. We can fake what we say or even what we do, but not what we want. The psalmist gushed, How lovely are Your dwelling places, O Lord of hosts! My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the Lord. How blessed are those who dwell in Your Dr. Hayes Wicker house! They are ever praising You (Psalm 84:1, 2, 4). God manifests His presence, power, and ministry in sacred spaces Senior Pastor of Bible-teaching, Christ-centered local churches, the modern equivalent to the Old Testaments courts. Of course, believer bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). You love Gods unique place of worship, discipleship, and ministry called First Baptist Church Naples. We are blessed to dwell in the heavenly atmosphere of worship and discipleship. We also could say, How blessed is the man whose strength is in God (Psalm 84:5) as we seek to equip the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12). Many come to our church who have never really found friendship in the Family of God before, yet affirm that the bird has found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young (Psalm 84:3). Your children discover and are discipled in the Lord here through our ministries. Your wandering has been turned into connecting; your restlessness has ceased by rest in the Lord. No matter what the outlook of life, the up-look is blessed. If you love and long for this dwelling place, be involved in the Bless the Lord Offering next weekend and give as much as possible to help us retire our debt of over $6 million remaining of the original $30 million. Our desire is to say with King David: O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy name, it is from Your hand, and all is Yours (1 Chronicles 29:16). We give God the glory but recognize our responsibility. The wicked borrows and does not pay back, but the righteous is gracious and gives (Psalm 37:21). We didnt wait to pay the enormous sum in cash before we built in order to keep reaching people, and also because we anticipated the rising costs of future construction. Manageable debt must also be payable. While some in the current national culture demean buildings as being wasteful, materialistic, or institutionalized, we see our facilities as a means to an end. We are investing in souls and not just steel and stucco. We built new fields for Sports Outreach where hundreds of unsaved kids are touched. Children now worship in the Discipleship Center and grow in the Lord in our new space. Countless people hear the gospel and receive comfort in our Chapel or find resources and meaningful fellowship in the Commons. Mission connections occur there, as well. Our First Baptist Academy is training todays generation to be tomorrows leaders. Hundreds more meet for Bible Study along with other equipping or healing ministries. Parking, access, air conditioning, office space, and much more have been enhanced. Four language ministries meet here in our Base of Operation. Bless the Lord!

Upcoming Events

This weekend, the Lighthouse Bookstore is hosting our local FBCN authors in a special book signing event. You can purchase their books, and then have the authors personally sign them. Authors include Pastor & Janet Wicker, Steve Plaster, Barbara Hoff, Peter Hone, Robb Brandt, Bill Combs, Linda Thomas, and others. Stop by the special display just outside the bookstore this Saturday after the service, or this Sunday after the 11:00am service. There are six beautiful paintings on display in the Commons (in the area across from the Lighthouse Bookstore, by the stairs) that are currently being offered in a silent auction. All proceeds go to the Bless the Lord offering. Bids close at 12:30pm on Sunday, March 31. Paintings donated by local artist and FBCN member Joyce Norwood. The Pregnancy Resource Center is at the Missions Kiosk in the Commons this weekend. Each year, hundreds of women facing crisis pregnancies enter the doors of the Pregnancy Resource Center believing abortion is their only option. They meet with volunteer counselors who lend a caring ear. The counselors share the truth about abortion and encourage them to make life-giving decisions by providing resources to meet their physical needs and support to meet their emotional needs. The counselors also share the Gospel with these women. If you would like to join us for training to become a counselor, or just for more information, please stop by the Missions Kiosk this weekend, or call Sue at 513-9775. Nicu and Marta Sotir, of Bucharest, Romania, will be sharing about their church planting ministry in the Shelford BLG this Sunday at 11:00am in Room DC110. Everyone is invited. Nicu graduated from Word of Life Bible Institute in Hungary and has ministered in his home country, sent by his home Baptist church.
