The Art Science Centre of BZI

The main theme of the Art Science Centre of BZI is Water. History of BZI
The BZI Manor was recorded since 1345 as a gift from the king John of Bohemia to the Rosenberg Family. In 1655 the water fortress was rebuilt as baroque castle but kept some of its Renaissance architecture. It remained in the Schwarzenberg family until 1929. The large oblong court of the castle is surrounded by many outbuildings, one of which used to be a brewery that gave its name to the adjacent lake.

The purpose is to create a research centre aimed at water and related ecological technologies. The project also features business, residential and cultural functions and will establish its reputation as a place where researchers, clients and tourists from all over the world can come to consult for water related issues, or just to enjoy the benefits of water, and learn at the same time about the latest developments about water. The complex, due to its size, allows for a wide range of intertwined activities and functions that offer many synergies. The heart of it will function as a small research city with all the necessary accommodation for researchers, guests, conferences, seminars and exhibitions. It will also boast the practical applications of the research results (spa's, pools, ice-ring, etc.). Its mission will be to develop the applications and to popularise and distribute them. It will also provide space for waterrelated businesses and serve as business incubator and technology transfer center.
