Jumaa Prayer
for the Muslims of Africa and beyond
In the News

For this is what the Lord has commanded us: 'I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth' (Ac 13:47).

Today's Prayer Requests: From Students and Alumni

CAMEROON: An alumnus writes: The times are tough. A minister signed a document in February, commanding that churches should no longer ask for tithes and that all the governors should make sure that the decree is implemented, doing a quick follow-up to make sure churches do not collect tithes in church. The one who gave this instruction is Muslim. We need prayer for Cameroon. Please pray for the Lord's intervention, for His wisdom for the pastors and believers, and for these government leaders. EGYPT: Frustrated and unemployed, many Egyptian young people have turned to violence, even forming anarchist groups. One activist group has expressed their dissatisfaction by calling for votes to help President Morsi win a trip into space! But there is unreported good news. At a recent meeting of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance, the general superintendent of the A/G of Egypt shared that many young people have sought and found the Lord. They are excited about their new-found faith and eager to share it. He asks us to pray (1) that the fire does not go out, but burns brightly, and (2) that the Spirit will give them wisdom as they share their faith in an unfriendly environment. PAKISTAN: An Assemblies of God church was among nearly 200 buildings destroyed in Joseph's Colony, Lahore, on 9 March. A mob numbering at least 3,000, incited by reports of a Christian's claim that Jesus is the greatest prophet, burned and vandalized homes, shops, and two churches. Police were told to let them vent their grief and anger. The man who made the claim is in prison. The government has condemned the rioting and offered compensation, but Christians live in fear. Please pray that the Lord will encourage His people, provide for them, and fill them with His grace and peace. Pray that Muslims may be touched by their godly example. From Global Initiative*

Pray for the Church in Jordan as it attempts to witness to and help Syrian refugees. At least 425,000 Syrians have found refuge in Jordan, some even living in caves in the ancient city of Petra. Assemblies of God and other churches are reaching out to them, providing food, medicines, blankets, and shelter. They show the Jesus film, hold children's classes, and distribute Bibles. Some of the refugees themselves are Christians. Please pray that the Lord will bless the efforts of these churches and believers to help hurting Muslims find lasting peace.

For Women**
Please pray for Naghmeh Abedini, the wife of American pastor Saeed Abedini who is imprisoned in Iran. Pray for her continued strength and faith in God during this time. The American Center for Law and Justice has been granted a hearing before the Human Rights Council of the UN this week at which they will present Saeeds case. Pray for Gods favor as they hear the case.
