Are airline carriers considering turning to a more environmentally-friendly power? Answer this question in 400 words (+or- 10%)

Environment endangered by pollution is a current and global issue everyone should be worried about / feel concerned with Airline companies rank among the most polluting ones. - Flying has become the fastest and safest way to move from one place to another This means of transport highly popular is still growing (no-frill strengthening fierce competition in this industry) Thus accounting for a major amount of pollution (the fuel they use being one of the heaviest) - Luckily, some leading and bold airline carriers heads are breaking the way to a more responsible citizen behaviour, helping peoples consciousness awake. Efforts to achieve fuel consumption savings, alternatives to recycle residues. Currently a thoughtful behaviour from carriers but financial means are needed. - A mass action is expected from both Green campaigners joined to a few good green companies but a government action is required too and not only as regards regulations but also true action and financial backing. Will the US authorities follow the green trend the safest way to a possible future? In Europe, we are starting a new shift towards renewables whenever it is possible: wind power, sun power to produce electricity. - Today, the US almost the last one to be left on the wrong side of the barrier: airline companies are today stepping in, hoping the majors to join in. The financial strain will be a heavy one, considering the recent extra costs on security triggered by latest terrorist attacks wont the burden be too much? Can they afford such a load? - To feel the urge for an earnest commitment, should individuals or companies be charged with, according to their respective polluting. - In the prospect of the soon coming green tax which will be levied on any polluter but on consumption goods (household appliances, white and brown goods) as well In Ireland such an involving tax has been set up already on domestic rubbish the more domestic waste, the highest the tax: Irish people are among the most environmentally-aware people Saving the planet and its inhabitants and ensuring their security is everyones concern. We have to commit ourselves to environment for fear it should be too late.
