Dear Families,
As a community, we all believe that students are more than test scores. MVMPCSs mission is to empower students to become responsible, confident, caring citizens who possess strong academic skills and an enduring love of learning. Clearly, you cannot achieve these aims through standardized testing. Test scores do play an important role, however. If you would like to read more about the Maryland State Assessments, visit http:// mdk12.org/assessments. If you follow the link for Performance Level Descriptors, there is a clear description of the three levels of achievement: Advanced, Proficient, and Basic for each grade.

As a first-year School Test Coordinator, I felt everything went very well. I look forward to being a STC next yearit wont seem nearly the challenge it was this year.
I would like to extend my appreciation to all students and staff involved in MSA testing. In one way or another, the entire MVMPCS community was involved! Primary classes held recess indoors to prevent distraction to students who were testing. First and second grade students doubled up and worked with new friends while 3rd grade tested. 3rd graders tested for the first time and learned to make marks heavy and dark. The old pros, 4th -8th graders, persevered, put forth their best effort, and gave it their all for four days.

The MVMPCS Drama Program proudly presents the spring production of:

Parents, thank you for getting your students here-we had great attendance during MSAs.
Staff, thank you for testing students, proctoring sessions, providing accommodations, rearranging plans, being flexible and willing to pitch in.

Thursday March 21st at 6 p.m. Friday, March 22nd at 6 p.m.

Tickets will be sold during student arrival and dismissal.

Students, you rocked the MSAs. Thanks for doing a great job with testingnow continue becoming responsible, confident, caring citizens with strong academic skills and a love of learning!

MVMPCS COMMUNITY COFFEE FRIDAY, MARCH 22, 9:15 A.M. MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM Parents, join us for the March Community Coffee Meeting next Friday. We are holding these monthly gatherings on the Fridays after "working" GC Meetings so that we can discuss and address relevant or pressing issues. The main topic of the March meeting will be 'fundraising,' as the school's budget is consistently shrinking. We will strategize on effective ways to raise money (new and existing) and how you can help. I would also like to have present those who can spell out fundraising goals and explain how to effectively donate so that we are getting larger family participation and explain why family participation is so critical for our school. Also, we will address questions such as when you donate, where does that money go-MMCI? MVMPCS? Time permitting, we will open it up for community comments. I would like to thank Dunkin Donuts on rte. 40 who donated 3 dozen donuts and the 7th St. Starbucks who donated 3 boxes of fabulous coffee for the last meeting! A special thanks to parents who helped with food, set up, etc and who signed up for committees! You know who you are!!! Thanks again to all involved and hopefully we will see new faces at future meetings.
