He is known for his drawings, sculptures, photography and paintings. His latest painting is from the year 1953. As per my study, he seems to be a contemporary artist who painted some really impressive paintings focussing on the day-to-day activities of a persons life. These paintings give a very deep meaning to the activities portrayed in them. Some of his paintings are named as the conversation, the arm, woman wearing a veil, red carpet, cup of oranges, woman in a yellow dress and etc. I have used some of these in my timeline. Thus, since day-to-day activities could not focus on a fixed pattern of colours, I preferred keeping it in the white background giving it the look of a timeline with the help of a tree and its branches/thorns, with the combination of Brown and Green colours. In order to do this, I used a stroke of 5 point for the big branch and 2 point stroke for the small thorns pointing towards the images. I gave this a look of a frame starting clockwise with the picture of Henri Matisse at the bottom and his year of birth which is 1864, branching out the thorns into different paintings with the titles and year indicated. This spiral looking branch ends before the completion of the rectangle ending to point at the picture of Matisse with his year of death indicated. A quote by Henri Matisse is inserted below his picture. For the use of typeface, Papyrus seemed to be well suitable for the kind of paintings he has drawn and also with the layout of the timeline. In addition, Papyrus as defined by Wikipedia is considered to be an unusual roman typeface that is most commonly used to merge the traditional letterform with the handwritten form. This typeface was originated in the year 1982. As Matisse has shown signs of being traditional in his paintings, I found this typeface to be apt to put on his timeline. I have done bold for the years in order to emphasize the year of the painting. Also, the quote written at the bottom of Matisses picture is in italic. Since, this is just a quote I preferred giving it italic look. Source: http://www.henri-matisse.net/biography.html Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papyrus_(typeface)
