od is mercy. That seems to be the main message of the reading from Exodus. God has seen the suffering of the Israelites and promises mercy and rescue. From then on, God is to be known as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Paul calls his readers to continue to grow in the faith. The God who rescued Israel also rescues them. As beneficiaries of Gods mercy, Christians must keep on working, doing their part to become ever more trusting and loving people of God. The Gospels second section is a homey story about Gods mercy. Against the advice of the land owner, the vinedresser pleads for mercyand shows mercyto allow the poor fig tree yet another year to become productive.

From the Pastors Desk

In this weekends Gospel we hear of the touching scene where the planter undertakes great effort and concern in order to try and save a tree which is endangered due to its failure to bear fruit. If the fig tree receives a second chance from the hands of the owner, shouldnt people all the more get second chances in life? It is difficult to imagine how our lives would look today if we had not been given second chances during our childhood, our adolescent years, and even as adults. Unfortunately some people in the world lack this opportunity in regards to human institutions, but people never lack the opportunity to reform in the eyes of God. The right to second chances should be appreciated by parents, teachers, people in charge, and even our friends. Today, God reminds us of this right to redemption. Unfortunately, some people do not approve of this right. There are many instances where those who gave second chances were criticized or even condemned for this act of charity. The Church is the best example of this. Truth is, like always, somewhere in the middle of innocence and guilt. When the gardener sought out the second chance for the fig tree, he did not stop with merely words. He assured the owner of the garden that the tree will receive special attention and will be cared for with great interest. People must be treated similarly. It is not enough to give someone a second chance, but you must ensure that the person has sufficient resources to make use of the opportunity so that the second chance will end with a success and not yet another disappointment. Todays Gospel is an appeal for us to be jointly responsible for the well being of others, and especially to take an interest in those who are lost in life here on earth and also their eternal destination. We should be especially concerned regarding those who suffer from addiction so that they may be given a second chance and that they may use it to the benefit of themselves and their families. We encourage you all to support the needs of the Church in Central and Eastern Europe. Next weeks second collection will be used for this purpose.

Stations of the Cross

Every Friday at 6:30pm in the Chapel in English. Every Friday at 7:30pm in the Church in Polish.

Please pray for those who have died and their families:

Respect Life
The Eucharist draws us into Jesus act of self-oblation we enter into the very dynamic of His self-giving (Encyclical Deus caritas est, 13). Let us live Lent then, as a Eucharistic time in which, welcoming the love of Jesus, we learn to spread it around us with every word and deed. Contemplating Him whom they have pierced moves us in this way to open our hearts to others, recognizing the wounds inflicted upon the dignity of the human person; it moves us, in particular, to fight every form of contempt for life and human exploitation and to alleviate the tragedies of loneliness and abandonment of so many people. May Lent be for every Christian a renewed experience of Gods love given to us in Christ, a love that each day we, in turn, must regive to our neighbor, especially to the one who suffers most and is in need. Only in this way will we be able to participate fully in the joy of Easter (Pope Benedict XVI, Lenten Message, 2007).

Podobnie trzeba postpi z czowiekiem.
