od is mercy. That seems to be the main message of the reading from Exodus. God has seen the suffering of the Israelites and promises mercy and rescue. From then on, God is to be known as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Paul calls his readers to continue to grow in the faith. The God who rescued Israel also rescues them. As beneficiaries of Gods mercy, Christians must keep on working, doing their part to become ever more trusting and loving people of God. The Gospels second section is a homey story about Gods mercy. Against the advice of the land owner, the vinedresser pleads for mercyand shows mercyto allow the poor fig tree yet another year to become productive.

Please pray for those who have died and their families:
Respect Life
The Eucharist draws us into Jesus act of self-oblation we enter into the very dynamic of His self-giving (Encyclical Deus caritas est, 13). Let us live Lent then, as a Eucharistic time in which, welcoming the love of Jesus, we learn to spread it around us with every word and deed. Contemplating Him whom they have pierced moves us in this way to open our hearts to others, recognizing the wounds inflicted upon the dignity of the human person; it moves us, in particular, to fight every form of contempt for life and human exploitation and to alleviate the tragedies of loneliness and abandonment of so many people. May Lent be for every Christian a renewed experience of Gods love given to us in Christ, a love that each day we, in turn, must regive to our neighbor, especially to the one who suffers most and is in need. Only in this way will we be able to participate fully in the joy of Easter (Pope Benedict XVI, Lenten Message, 2007).

God called Moses from a burning bush and Moses replied, Here I am. Do you have the courage to say Here I am? That is the first and most important step. If you have ever thought about priesthood, consider attending the next Exploring Priesthood Weekend retreat held on April 12-14, 2013 at Mundelein Seminary to learn about the possibilities of diocesan priesthood in Chicago. For information contact Fr. Brian Welter at 312 -534-8298 or at bwelter@archchicago.org or go to www.ChicagoPriest.com.
Rummage Sale
We are having a parish rummage sale on April 813. Kindly keep your unneeded clothing and household items that are still usable for this event. Please ask your family and friends to help us by donating their still usable clothing and items too. There are many people in need at this time. Thank you!
