March 17, 2013 Reminder to parents with nursery pagers, please keep pager on your person to feel the vibration if our nursery staff or your child needs you. Large Print Bibles are available on the table in the Narthex. Transceivers are available in the sanctuary for the hearing impaired during the worship service. Shirl King will be available on Sunday mornings for details. Please, everyone wear a name tag, take time to fill out the Friendship Register, and join us for fellowship after worship in the Fellowship Hall. Want a copy of the sermon? Request forms are located on the sign up board and on the office desk to get a CD. WELCOME THOSE LEADING IN WORSHIP TODAY: Guest Preacher: Rev. Jessica K. Bell Rev. Jessica K. Bell graduated in 2004 from California State University Northridge in Political Science. She then earned a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. In 2008, she was selected for the Teach for America program. Through TFA, Bell taught Special Education, World History, and Social Justice in more than five charter high schools in underserved neighborhoods of South Los Angeles. During this time, she earned an Education Specialist Credential from the State of California. Bell was ordained in the Presbyterian Church USA and commissioned as a U. S. Navy Reserve Chaplain in 2010. She is currently on Active Duty working at MARSOC.
EASTER LILY ORDERS: The envelope in your bulletin today is for purchasing Easter Lilies that will decorate our church during Easter. Donations may be made in honor or in memory of a loved one. You may also choose to make a donation toward the Sound System Fund. The envelopes will be available today and March 24. The list of honorees will be published in the March 31 bulletin. Please drop the envelopes in the offering plate. YOUTH CHOIR will meet today at 11:15 in the God Seekers classroom. Youth Choir is for children K through 12th grade. Come sing! Hope to see you there! The Youth Choir will be singing during worship next Sunday, Palm Sunday. FELLOWSHIP TIME: During the month of March, we invite everyone to share in providing refreshments during Fellowship by bringing a small plate of goodies to share with all. PRAYER TIME: A short prayer time is held every Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the Narthex. Please remember to turn your cell phones off during the worship service.

THROUGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR meets on Thursdays from 6:45 to 7:45 pm in the room across from the kitchen. Participation is open to the whole congregation. We meet every Thursday and go over at least one book of the Bible on our journey to reading the entire Bible. DUTTWEILER BABY SHOWER: Thursday, March 21, 7:30 9:00 p.m. A baby shower for Raleigh Elizabeth Duttweiler will be held in the Fellowship Hall. She is expecting a boy. All women of the church are invited to attend. Childcare can be provided. Please notify Mary Lyall or Peggy Roberts if you need childcare or have any questions. They are registered at Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby; full registry is on-line at www.amazingregistry/hunterduttweiler (state of Maryland). OUR COOKBOOK CUISINE DINNER: March 23, 2013, 5:00 p.m. This will be a potluck dinner, with all recipes coming from our church cookbook. If you do not have a cookbook, please contact Marcia Hamilton. Sign up in the hallway and let us know what you are bringing. PALM SUNDAY CELEBRATION: Sunday, March 24, 2013, 10:00 a.m., Procession of the Palms. All Children are invited to meet in the hall by the kitchen before church to receive their palm fronds and prepare for the procession into the church with the choir. BIBLE IN A YEAR CLASS: Bible in a Year class will not meet on Thursday, March 28, Maundy Thursday, but instead, that week, will meet on Monday, March 25. MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE: Thursday, March 28, 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE: Friday, March 29, 7:00 p.m. at New River Community Church. EASTER CARNIVAL: The carnival is fast approaching. We are in need of eggs and volunteers. Please sign up on the bulletin board and plan to join in the fun on the 30 th at 11:00. Bring cakes, pies, cookies, etc., for the Cake Walk on the 30 th also. Thank you and we will see everyone then. Pray for a sunny sky and a warm day! COMMUNITY EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE: Sunday, March 31, 6:30 a.m. on the beach. Cross over high-rise bridge to North Topsail Beach, turn left on New River Inlet Road, and go to Beach Access #4. There will be a Potluck Breakfast. Bring a chair. EASTER WORSHIP SERVICES: We will have two worship services Easter morning in the Sanctuary. The times are 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. THE ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING OFFERING will be taken up during both Easter worship services. This offering is a time to share with others all around the world. LAITY SUNDAY: April 7, 2013, 10:00 a.m. worship with lay people leading worship; our annual BBQ follows. Tickets will be on sale after worship today. Tickets are $8.00 per plate (children under 18 are free but must have a ticket.) Bring a chair for lunch. USHERS ARE NEEDED FOR WORSHIP SERVICES. Please sign up on the bulletin board.

CANCER/CHRONIC ILLNESS SUPPORT GROUP: The Presbyterian Counseling Center has begun a Cancer Support Group for individuals with cancer or chronic illness, and their caregivers/family. The Support Group is a place to share concerns related to medical diagnoses, and to listen to others who are coping with similar circumstances. The Group is open to all and there is no charge to participate. Meeting time is Wednesdays at 4 p.m. at the Center (4810 Wrightsville Avenue, Wilmington). Fred Wall, an intern completing a counseling degree, is the Group Facilitator. For more information, call the Center at 452-7370. OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES ADOPT A HIGHWAY: As a community project, Outreach has adopted Highway 210 from McDonalds to Stone Bay Rifle Range (2 miles both sides). A signup sheet is posted on the bulletin board. Contact Linda Schneider (Linschneider43@gmail.com). SUPPLIES FOR THE TROOPS: If you would like to give to our troops, a donation basket is available in the Kitchen hallway for donated items. The items in need are: Phone cards, small sewing kits, tooth brushes and paste, small bottles of shampoo, soap, sun screen, and any kind of snacks. SNEADS FERRY FOOD PANTRY: A collection bin has been placed in the Kitchen hallway for your food donations to the Sneads Ferry Food Pantry. The donations help people in the community. The S. F. F. P. is located at 2205 Hwy. 172, operating 5 days a week, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Meat, canned goods, baby items, including diapers, will be available. Volunteers are needed to help fold and display clothing and pass out food. DIXON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAM: If you would like to get involved in this vital community outreach program, please sign up on the bulletin board. OFFERINGS FOR THE COMMUNITY AL-ANON MEETINGS: Every Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference room behind the Sanctuary - Use the outside entrance to that room. H2O: Hope 2 Offer/Help 2 Overcome: A local, faith based not for profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation program offered to men and women. H2O meets weekly on Thursdays at Salem Baptist Church, 6:00 p.m. with supper, program, and small groups. Confidentiality is required!!
