Quality In-charge M/s Simplex Infrastructures Limited, Mundra; and Shri Pradeep
Panchal, Quality In-charge, M/s GDC, Mundra.

Prima-facie it has been observed that the facilities for In House testing of Chemicals
manufactured by the Company are satisfactory.

The queries raised were elaborately and satisfactorily explained by Shri Paresh Patel
Quality Control In-charge, M/s Fosroc Chemicals (I) Private Limited Factory, GIDC
Ankleswar.

The various chemicals were studied as to get dual advantage of workability and
retardation in setting times.

Conplast SP 430 MS suits to our requirements and hence trials to establish the
optimum quantity, after studying and deciding the appropriate dosage, as to obtain
both Workability and Retardation of IST and FST were carried out with Admixture -
Conplast SP 430 MS.

The trial tests to explore the optimum dosage of Liquid Admixture Conplast SP 430
MS were carried out at Laboratory of M/s Fosroc Chemicals (I) Private Limited
Factory, GIDC Ankleswar for Workability and Setting times , with the co-operation of
Shri Bhavin Kothari, Area Manager , Shri Paresh Patel Quality Control In-charge,
Shri Nishesh Patel, Sales Engineer , M/s Fosroc Chemicals (I) Private Limited
Factory, GIDC Ankleswar.

Also appropriate tests were conducted to assess the values of characteristics properties
of Liquid Admixture Conplast SP 430 MS, proposed to be used,
The values obtained are as under:
1. p H 7.86 at temperature 280C
2. Specific Gravity 1.213 at temperature 280C

Recommendations:
Based on the above observations for Workability and Retardation in Setting times
[IST and FST] it can comfortably be concluded that Liquid Admixture Conplast SP
430 MS suits our requirements and the dosage of the Admixture shall be kept as
0.80% of weight of Cement irrespective of the grade of Mix.
The Compressive strength at the age of 7 days and 28 days shall be made available on
26.08.2008 and 16.09.2008 respectively for the trials conducted with various dosages
of liquid admixture.

Conclusion:
After getting the above results of CCS at the age of 7 days and 28 days, the final
approval shall be given till then the concrete may proceed with the addition of Liquid
Admixture Sikament 600 HP2 .

The salient features of the Chemical Conplast SP 430 MS are as under:
Uses
Suitable for high performance concrete
Produces pumpable concrete
Increases workability without extra water
Improves cohesion, minimizing segregation and give better finish.
Chloride free, safe for use in pre-stressed and reinforced concrete
Can be used with concrete containing microsilica and other cement replacements like PFA, GGBS,
Metakaolin etc.

Advantages
Improved workability - Easier, quicker placing and compaction.
Increased strength - Provides high early strength if water reduction is taken advantage of.
Increased quality - Denser, close textured concrete with reduced porosity and hence enhanced
durability.
Higher cohesion - Risk of segregation and bleeding minimized; thus aids pumping of concrete

Compatibility :
Can be used with all types of cements except high alumina cement.
Conplast SP430MS is compatible with other Conplast admixtures when added separately to the mix.
Site trials should be carried out to optimize dosages.

Workability : Can be used to produce flowing concrete that requires no compaction. Some minor
adjustments may be required to produce high workable mix without segregation.

Cohesion : Cohesion is improved due to dispersion of cement particles thus minimizing segregation
and improving surface finish.

Compressive strength: Early strength is increased up-to 40 to 50% if water reduction is taken
advantage of. Generally, there is improvement in strength upto 20% depending upon W/C ratio and
other mix parameters.

Durability : Reduction in W/C ratio enables increase in density and impermeability thus enhancing
durability of concrete.

Dosage
The optimum dosage is best determined by site trials with the concrete mix which enables the effects of
workability, strength gain or cement reduction to be measured. As a general guideline, for normal grade
of concrete a dosage from 0.6% to 1.2% by weight of cement is recommended, the dosage may be
increased to 1.6% by weight to achieve specific slump requirements.
For a high performance concrete containing Microsilica where a high amount of water reduction and
slump retention are required, dosages upto 2.5% to 3.0% by weight of cementitious materials may be
required to create effective dispersion of Microsilica particles. However to arrive at the optimum dosage,
site trials needs to be carried out as the dosage will greatly depend on the mix design and performance
required at site.

Overdosage
An overdose of above the recommended level of admixture may result in high workability, slight
increase in air entrainment and retardation of setting time. The ultimate strength of the concrete will not
be adversely affected and will be generally higher than that of normal concrete if properly placed and
used.
