Back to the Basics: Faith
Faith –
(1)Belief and trust in and loyalty to God
(2)Belief in the traditional doctrines of a
religion
(3)Firm belief in something for which there is
no proof
(4)Complete trust
(5)Something that is believed especially with
strong conviction

James 2:14-26
14What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not
works? can faith save him? 15If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily
food, 16And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled;
notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body;
what doth it profit? 17Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith
without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19Thou believest
that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble……..

James 2:14-26
20But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21Was not
Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon
the altar? 22Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was
faith made perfect? 23And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham
believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called
the Friend of God. 24Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not
by faith only. 25Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when
she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26For as
the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Hebrews 11:6
6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God
must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him

Hebrews 11:17
17By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received
the promises offered up his only begotten son,

Matthew 17:14-21
14And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling
down to him, and saying, 15Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed:
for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. 16And I brought him to thy
disciples, and they could not cure him. 17Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and
perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him
hither to me. 18And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was
cured from that very hour. 19Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not
we cast him out? 20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto
you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove
hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto
you. 21Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Matthew 6:30-34
30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow
is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink?
or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles
seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things
shall be added unto you. 34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the
morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil
thereof.

Ephesians 6:16
16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked.

James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
