MA in Black Sea Cultural Studies

The MA in Black Sea Cultural Studies is based on an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the history and culture of the Black Sea region, an area of increasing geopolitical and economic importance. The Black Sea region was and continues to be one of the great international cultural gateways, of importance for Europe as well as for Asia and the East. During the last decades, research institutions and university departments all over the world have promoted research programmes focusing on this specific area, which has rich scientific material to offer. The Masters Programme MA in Black Sea Cultural Studies provides the student with an outstanding opportunity to specialise in a research domain of great significance in our times. The ambitious aim of the distinguished scientists teaching on this programme is to offer compact, hands-on and thorough knowledge. The programme focuses on the archaeology, history, ethnography, the contemporary political and economic situation and generally on the culture of the peoples and countries in the Black Sea region through time. Our students will be able to work in: Educational and research institutes and academies all over the world dealing with the Black Sea region Archaeological services of the Black Sea countries and Greece or foreign archaeological missions in those countries Museums, galleries and other places of collection, study and exhibition of works of art, especially from this region Diplomatic Corps or other state services Businesses which operate or have interests in the Black Sea region
