scopic bearing which perfectly adjusts
the internal humidity level, creating a
healthy microclimate. Therefore, a
timber house is a healthy one, in wich
the comfort and the biological life
protection is optimum. in addition,
using timber in constructions, adds to
this a specific natural valency: texture,
colour, elegance and natural
fragrance.
Fireproof treated and against degra-
dation, the Apicom timber - used in
building - is durable, assuring simulta-
neously a good thermic isolation. In
addition, due to its elasticity, the
timber used in constructions presents
a low earthquake risk.

Who we are?
The department of wood processing
and buildings is one of the two main
Apicom Company departments,
besides that of building materials
distribution. Passion outcome and the
tradition in woodwork that exists in
Harghita county, our main product -
the timber houses - are appreciated by
beneficiaries from all over Europe -
over 90% of our production having
yearly been exported. For example,
out of 80 houses built in 2003, 70
have been transported and put
together in France, Germany, Italy,
Spain and Hungary.
Development
The accelerated programme of
investments into this department - in
developing during 2004 - will have as
a result an important production
growth, the raising of the qualitative
level by the implementation of new
and modern technologies and thus,
the diversification of the range of
products with a large degree of
p r o c e s s i n g a n d c o m p l e x i t y.
By this, we intend not only to satisfy
the increasing requirements of our
clients from abroad, but also to
expand our presence on the building
markets and of our timber products in
Romania.
What we produce?
Apicom’s main wood processing
activity is timber-house building for
dwelling and holiday. These may be
produced in 6 Apicom standard
variants, by following our own plans
or modified as required by the client or
using the client’s original plans.
Besides the house building, we offer
our clients consulting and assistance
services, both for the architectural and
technical projects. In addition, by
means of the distribution department,
we assure the entire building materials
and finishings necessary, as well as the
calculation and projection of the
material need.
We also produce a series of other
smaller buildings and finite products
used in decorations: pagodas and
garden furniture, houselets and
playspaces for children, components
for terraces, kennels, fences and
accesories, flower stands, etc.
In addition to these, we also produce
semi-finished products for the
indusrty of constructions, such as:
timber doors and window frames,
timber partition, floor boards, slats
boards and girders, etc.

Advantages
Timber constructions enjoy a series of
advantages, in contrast with other
buildings that are using traditional
building materials.
Durability - the fireproof timber
together with the impregnated one
used in Apicom house building
have a prolongued duration,
exceeding the medium durability of
traditional building materials.
Elasticity - the timber elasticity
doesn’t allow the appearence of
cracks and diminishes the earth-
quake vibrations and the seismic
waves. The installing of central
heating equipment, plumbing and
inner centralization mean, at the
same time, low prices.
Short building time - a cons-
truction finished over a short period
of time, means also low prices.
Thermic and phonic isolation -
due to the materials used, there is
obtained a thermic and phonic
superior isolation value.
Fireproof protection - the wood
used in Apicom house building is
fireproof protected by means of
chemical solutions, having a fire
resistance up to 90 minutes at
flames (class of resistance to flames
F90 B-DIN).
Low prices - the price of timber
houses is more reduced than that of
other traditional building materials.

Structure and walls The roof

There are a lot of technologies used in
building Apicom houses, concerning
the structure and the walls, according
to the client’s preferences:
Sandwich - resistance skeleton
covered with a 10-15 cm timber
partition, prepared for isolation.
The inner timber partition may be
replaced by ghips cardboard.
Girders I - simple construction, 42
mm double grooved girders.
Timber resistance skeleton
The structure of the roof is based on
the following categories of 7,5x15 cm Gypsum cardboard or timber partition
rafters:

for tile roof, counter slates and tile

Thermoisolation
Glasswool is the thermoisolant Sandwich type structure. On the inner side of the walls, the
