1 All discharge from sewage treatment systems into any inland waters within the catchment areas specified in the Fourth Schedule shall comply with Standard A (Third column of Third Schedule of the Environment Quality (Sewage & Industrial Effluents) Regulations 1979-P.U (A) 12.79). 7.3.3 For the design of the diffuser, the rule of thumb may be used that the total cross-sectional area of the ports should not be more than half the cross-sectional area of the pipe. In large diffusers, often exceeding 1km in length, the diffuser diameter may be stepped down in size toward the end.
