Chapter:Our changing world

Our world has changed a lot because of the development of Science and technology. This development is turning out to be very significant for human beings. Science and technology has developed in many areas such as agriculture, communication and transportation
Agriculture

In terms of agriculture the development of Science and technology has improved a lot and this has caused an increase in the quality and quantity of agricultural products. In the olden days, farmers used animals such as buffaloes and horses to plough land. Today most farmers are using tractors to plough land. Today, we even have higher grades of fruits such as durians which can be sold at a very high price. This is due to the high quality of the durians. We even have such a wide quantity of these fruits that they(the fruits)can be exported to foreign countries such as China.

As for the development of communication from the olden days till now has been nothing short of remarkable. Today we can communicate with people around the world using advanced technology. Now I am going to give a short briefing on the development of Science and technology in the area of communication. In the olden days people communicated with each other using smoke signals. After that, some people used pigeons to send messages to others. Then, people used telegraphs to communicate with each other. After a while, humans used line phones as a source of communication. A little while on and the mobile phone was invented. It is like the line phone but it is portable and has a few additional features. Today we are able to communicate with people all around the world using a computer program called SKYPE. This has made life very convenient for us humans.

Transportation

The improvement of transportation has also been amazing. In the olden days people walk from place to place. After that, they used horse carriages and boats. Then, they used hot air balloons to travel. Today, they are using cars and aeroplanes as a source of transportation. The first aeroplane was invented on December 17 in the year 1903.It was invented by the Wright Brothers. Transport or transportation is the movement of people and goods from one location to another. Modes of transport include air, rail, road, water, cable, pipeline, and space. The field can be divided into infrastructure, vehicles, and operations. Transport is important since it enables trade between peoples, which in turn establishes civilizations. Transport infrastructure consists of the fixed installations necessary for transport, and may be roads, railways, airways, waterways, canals and pipelines, and terminals such as airports, railway stations, bus stations, warehouses, trucking terminals, refueling depots (including fueling docks and fuel stations), and seaports. Terminals may be used both for interchange of passengers and cargo and for maintenance. Vehicles traveling on these networks may include automobiles, bicycles, buses, trains, trucks, people, helicopters, and aircraft. Operations deal with the way the vehicles are operated, and the procedures set for this purpose including financing, legalities and policies. In the transport industry, operations and ownership of infrastructure can be either public or private, depending on the country and mode.
