Objective of this lecture is to explain to the student the concept of Risk Management, definition of Risk, classification and type of Risk. Among the several topics to be discussed, first lecture explains the meaning of risk and how the business can manage it properly in order to minimize the uncertainties may arise in running the company and to avoid as well as minimizing the possibility of loss (risk mitigation). The focus will be on the internal risks and the external risks and explain the process of risk management, methodology and discuss in more details risks faced by the business entity in general.

After the over all lectures, the students are expected to understand how companies manage its risks whether pure risk or speculative risk. Students are also required to read the text books and readings additional papers, materials and will have to prepare the paper(s) and suggested to visit web-sites in risk management. This lecture will be the basic for the students to take more advance lecture in Risk Management.
